Airport transfer FAQ — CGC Gold Coast

Everything travellers actually ask, answered plainly: what it costs, how the booking works, which vehicle, how child seats and surfboards are handled, what time you’ll be picked up and what happens when a flight goes wrong. Transfers run from any Gold Coast or Northern NSW address to Gold Coast Airport (OOL) and Brisbane Airport (BNE), from $55 sedan to OOL and $200 sedan to BNE for central Gold Coast addresses, GST and the Gateway toll included, price locked at booking. If your question isn’t here, message 0416 131 285 and you’ll get a straight answer. 5.0 stars from 65 Google reviews.

The Short Answer

Pricing is a fixed figure per vehicle, calculated on your exact address and locked at booking: from $55 sedan / $85 Kia Carnival / to OOL and from $200 / $260 to BNE for central Gold Coast addresses. GST is included, the Gateway toll is inside every BNE quote and any after-hours fee for a 9pm–5am pickup is confirmed up front. No surge, no meter, no last-minute surcharge — a higher rate applies only on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday. Payment is by card online at booking. Your pickup time is worked out from your flight: drive time plus 1.5 hours domestic, plus 3 hours international. Your driver’s name and number arrive by SMS before the day. Flight monitoring runs on every airport pickup, with 45 minutes’ waiting included from wheels down on domestic arrivals and 90 minutes on international. Meet and greet is included at OOL. Standard hours are 5am–9pm, with pre-booked after-hours pickups 9pm–5am.

Pricing and Payment

VehiclePassengersTo OOLTo BNE
Sedan / Toyota RAV41–3from $55from $200
Kia CarnivalUp to 7from $85from $260

Per vehicle, not per person, for central Gold Coast addresses. Outer suburbs and Northern NSW are covered by their own published fixed zones.

How is the price calculated?

A fixed zone figure, on the pickup zone between your exact address and your terminal and by vehicle. It’s worked out when you book and locked from that moment — no meter, no recalculation on the day. Full detail on the pricing guide.

Are there hidden charges on the day?

No. GST is in the quote, the Gateway toll is in the quote on BNE runs and any after-hours fee is in the quote. There’s no surge, no metered fare, no fuel levy and nothing added at the kerb. The figure you agree to at booking is the figure you pay.

Do early-morning or late-night pickups cost more?

Pickups between 9pm and 5am carry an after-hours fee and it’s calculated into your locked quote at booking rather than added on the day. Pickups from 5am run at the standard rate. See early-morning transfers.

Do public holidays cost more?

Only two days a year: Christmas Day and Easter Sunday. Every other public holiday — New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Australia Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, ANZAC Day, Labour Day, the King’s Birthday, Boxing Day — runs at the standard rate, as do school holidays and Schoolies week. See public holiday transfers.

Is there a last-minute surcharge?

No — the rate is identical whether you book eight weeks ahead or tonight. Booking early secures availability, not a discount. See how far in advance to book.

How do I pay?

Online by card at the time of booking. There’s no cash and no in-car payment, so nothing is handled on the day. Corporate accounts are available by prior approval.

Can I get a quote without committing?

Yes — the booking form returns a quote in about two minutes with no obligation and phone, SMS or WhatsApp works the same way.

Is it cheaper per person for a group?

Effectively, yes — the price is per vehicle, not per head. A Carnival to BNE at $260 split four ways is $60 each, which is where private transfers stop looking expensive against per-person options.

Booking and Changes

How far ahead should I book?

As soon as your flight is ticketed, since the rate never changes with lead time. Two to three days is fine for a standard weekday; 3–4 weeks for school holidays and Easter; 4–6 weeks for Schoolies and January; 6–8 weeks for Christmas and New Year.

Can I book same-day?

Often, if a driver is free — and there’s no surcharge for it. Call 0416 131 285 rather than using the form for anything inside a few hours and you’ll get a straight yes or no fast. See the last-minute guide.

What do you need from me to book?

Your pickup address (including which entrance, if there’s more than one), the terminal, your flight number and time, how many passengers and bags, any surfboards or oversized gear, child restraint needs and ages, your mobile number and any access notes like a gate code.

Should I book the return at the same time?

Yes — one booking locks the price on both legs and puts the return flight into monitoring before you leave home, so the arrival is organised while you’re still packing.

Can I change a booking after it’s confirmed?

Yes — message 0416 131 285 as soon as you know. Changes to time, date, address or passenger count are accommodated with reasonable notice. A switch between BNE and OOL changes the distance, so a new quote applies.

What’s the cancellation policy?

Standard cancellations more than 24 hours before pickup receive a full credit toward a future booking; within 24 hours, no credit, as the vehicle and driver are reserved. If your flight itself is cancelled: full credit with more than 4 hours’ notice, 50% between 1.5 and 4 hours, none within 1.5 hours. Credits are non-refundable. Full terms on the about us page.

Drivers and Service

How do I know who’s picking me up?

An SMS before the day with your driver’s name, mobile number, the pickup time and the meet point. Save the number — a text on the morning gets you a live ETA from the person actually driving to you. See how to reach your driver.

Is there an app to track the car?

No — and it’s not a gap. A text to your driver is faster and more accurate than a map dot and because the same driver is assigned from confirmation to drop-off there’s no re-matching to watch.

Will the driver wait if I’m running late?

Fifteen minutes of waiting is included on non-airport pickups. Beyond that it depends on what’s next on their run, so message them on the number in your SMS as early as you can. At the airport, waiting is more generous — see the delays section below.

Are CGC drivers licensed and checked?

Yes — every driver holds current Queensland Driver Authorisation under the Booked Hire framework administered by Queensland Transport and Main Roads, which includes criminal history, driving history and medical fitness checks. Every booking carries comprehensive commercial passenger insurance, including across the NSW border.

Will I get the same driver on the return leg?

Often, though it depends on availability. What’s certain is that whoever is assigned reaches you by SMS with their name and number before the pickup, exactly as on the outbound.

Vehicles and Capacity

What vehicles do you run?

Three: a sedan (Toyota RAV4) for 1–3 passengers with 2 check-in and 2 carry-on bags; a Kia Carnival for up to 7 passengers, 6 large suitcases and up to 5 child restraints; and a 12-seat VW Transporter for 8–11 passengers with 10 large suitcases. Groups over 11 run as multiple vehicles together.

Which vehicle for a family of four?

The Carnival. Four people with four suitcases, carry-ons, child seats and a pram is well past what a sedan holds — and the Carnival is the vehicle that takes the restraints anyway.

What if my passenger count changes after booking?

Message us. Adding people, boards or oversized gear may mean stepping up to a Carnival or Transporter, which changes the quote. Dropping passengers doesn’t change it — the vehicle was reserved for the original manifest.

Are the vehicles air-conditioned?

Yes, all of them, with the climate set to whatever suits you. It matters more than people expect on a 4am run in February.

Luggage and Surfboards

How much luggage fits in each vehicle?

Sedan: 2 large suitcases plus 2 carry-on, for 1–3 passengers. Carnival: 6 large suitcases plus carry-ons, a full-size pram and up to 5 child restraints. Transporter: 10 large suitcases plus group gear.

Can I bring surfboards?

Yes — boards up to roughly 7’2″ travel in the Kia Carnival and longer boards go in the 12-seat Transporter. The sedan doesn’t take boards at all, so flag the count and lengths at booking and the right vehicle is reserved. See the surfboard transfers guide.

What about golf bags and oversized gear?

Golf bags, instruments, sporting kit and boxed items travel in the Carnival or Transporter rather than the sedan. There’s no separate oversize charge — the vehicle class simply reflects what you’re carrying. See oversized luggage.

Does the driver help with the bags?

Yes — loaded at your door and unloaded at the terminal kerb and the same in reverse on airport pickups.

Can I bring a pram and a baby capsule?

Yes — both fit the Carnival, with the pram folding into the cargo area and the capsule fitted before pickup. Flag both at booking. See travelling with a baby.

Timing and Drive Times

What time will you pick me up?

Drive time plus 1.5 hours for a domestic departure and plus 3 hours for international. Give us the flight number and the pickup time comes back calculated from your actual address — no guesswork required from you.

How long is the drive to Brisbane Airport?

Roughly 90 minutes to 2 hours off-peak from central Gold Coast suburbs. The weekday morning peak adds 20–30 minutes around Yatala and the Logan Motorway merge, so plan against the peak if any part of the run falls between 6:30am and 9:30am. See how to avoid delays getting to BNE.

How long is the drive to Gold Coast Airport?

25–45 minutes from central Gold Coast suburbs on the toll-free Gold Coast Highway and less from the southern suburbs. See how early to leave Surfers Paradise for OOL.

What are your hours?

Standard hours are 5am to 9pm. After-hours pickups between 9pm and 5am — the pre-dawn international departures and the late arrivals — are pre-booked, with the fee inside the locked quote.

What if there’s an incident on the M1?

The buffer absorbs most of it and there are alternatives — the Gold Coast Highway, Beaudesert–Beenleigh Road, the inland run. A longer detour doesn’t change your price: the quote is locked at booking, not metered.

Child Seats and Family Travel

Do you provide child seats?

Yes — Australian-Standards restraints under the under-7 framework: rear-facing capsule for infants, forward-facing harnessed seat for toddlers, booster for older children, matched to each child’s age. They’re an optional extra, itemised in the quote at booking so you see the total before confirming and fitted before your driver arrives.

How many child seats fit in one vehicle?

Up to five in the Kia Carnival, alongside two adult passengers and the driver. More than that means a second vehicle — flag it at booking. See airport transfers with kids.

Can I bring my own seat?

Yes and your driver will fit it at no charge — just allow a couple of extra minutes at pickup. Handy if you’re using the same seat at the other end.

Do the rules change crossing into NSW?

Not in substance — NSW applies the same under-7 framework as Queensland, administered by Transport for NSW. Compliant restraints are fitted on cross-border pickups exactly as they are here.

Delays and Cancellations

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Nothing you need to do. Flight monitoring runs on every airport pickup, the collection follows your actual landing and the fare doesn’t change. Waiting is included: 45 minutes from wheels down on domestic arrivals, 90 minutes on international, covering taxiing, immigration, biosecurity and the bag belt. See how flight delays are handled.

What if my outbound flight is retimed?

The pickup moves with it automatically if the change comes through before your pickup. If you spot it first, a message to 0416 131 285 never hurts.

What if my flight is cancelled?

Message us before you join the airline queue — the credit tier is measured against your original scheduled pickup time, so the clock is already running. Full credit more than 4 hours out, 50% between 1.5 and 4 hours, none within 1.5 hours. Once you’re rebooked, the transfer reschedules at the same rate with no rebooking charge. See the flight cancellation page.

What if my flight is diverted to another airport?

Contact us as soon as you know. A different arrival airport is a different route and distance, so it’s re-quoted on the new run rather than carried across — but we’ll work it out with you.

Terminals and Meet Points

Which airports do you serve?

Brisbane Airport (Domestic and International) and Gold Coast Airport (Domestic and International). Transfers to the Brisbane cruise terminal are also handled — see cruise passenger transfers.

Where will my driver meet me?

At Gold Coast Airport, meet and greet is included — your driver meets you at the airport and walks you to the vehicle. At Brisbane Airport, your confirmation SMS gives your driver’s name, number and the exact meet point and a quick text saying which door you’re at sorts out the rest.

Do you drop at the right terminal?

Yes — the terminal is on the booking, so you’re dropped at the entry for your flight rather than a generic kerbside. See the Brisbane Airport and Gold Coast Airport terminal guides.

Groups and Events

What’s the largest group you can take?

Eleven in the Transporter. Anything larger runs as multiple vehicles together on one booking. See large group transfers.

Do you handle Schoolies?

Yes — Gold Coast Airport pickups at the standard rate, no surge and parents can book and pay. Book 4–6 weeks ahead; availability in that window is the real constraint. See Schoolies transfers.

Weddings and conferences?

Yes — multi-vehicle coordination across a weekend with one invoice. See wedding transfers and conference transfers.

Where We Go

Do you cover my suburb?

Almost certainly. Every Gold Coast suburb from Coolangatta to Ormeau, the hinterland including long unmarked driveways and across the border through the Tweed Coast to Byron Bay and Ballina. If you’re not sure, put the address into the booking form and you’ll get a quote back.

Do you go to Byron Bay and Northern NSW?

Yes — Tweed Heads, Kingscliff, Casuarina, Cabarita Beach, Pottsville, Brunswick Heads, Mullumbimby, Bangalow, Lennox Head, Ballina, Suffolk Park and Byron Bay are all routine, quoted per route. See Byron Bay transfers.

Can you find a hinterland property at 3am?

Yes, if you give us the landmarks. A long unmarked driveway is invisible in the dark, so the booking captures the description — “white letterbox, sensor light, 200m past the bend” — and the car arrives at the right gate rather than the right postcode.

Pro Tip: Give us the flight number rather than a pickup time you’ve guessed. The timing rule then works from your actual address and your actual flight — drive time plus 1.5 hours domestic or 3 hours international — with the peak-hour buffer built in where it’s needed. It also switches on flight monitoring, which is what makes a delayed landing cost you nothing. One field and most of what could go wrong stops being your problem.
