Burleigh Heads to BNE vs Burleigh Heads to OOL
| Factor | Burleigh Heads → BNE | Burleigh Heads → OOL |
|---|---|---|
| Distance | Approximately 97 km | Approximately 15 km |
| Drive time (off-peak) | 1h 25min–1h 30min | Around 20 min |
| Primary route | Reedy Creek Road → M1 north → Logan → Gateway | Gold Coast Highway south through Palm Beach, Currumbin and Tugun |
| Best for | Major international connections and wider domestic capacity | Domestic east-coast, New Zealand and short-haul international |
OOL is far closer and is usually the simpler choice for domestic and trans-Tasman trips — see our Burleigh Heads to OOL page. The gap is stark from Burleigh: 15km against 97km, 20 minutes against an hour and a half. BNE earns the extra distance only when the flight network demands it — the international long-haul widebody network out of Brisbane with connections to Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Los Angeles and London, routes OOL doesn’t operate. Unsure which airport your itinerary points at? The airport transfer pricing guide walks through the decision.

Burleigh Heads: Southern Central Gold Coast Surf, Dining and Family Hub
Burleigh Heads sits on the southern central Gold Coast strip, bounded by Miami to the north, Burleigh Waters and West Burleigh inland to the west and Tallebudgera Creek to the south. The Gold Coast Highway runs through the suburb as the primary north-south arterial.
The James Street dining and café strip — running from the Gold Coast Highway down to The Esplanade beachfront — is one of the Gold Coast’s most prominent food precincts, anchored by Rick Shores beachfront restaurant, the broader James Street café scene and Burleigh Pavilion at the southern end. The beachfront apartment strip on The Esplanade includes Burleigh Beach Tower, Burleigh Mediterranean and multiple oceanfront apartment buildings in a row along the beachfront.
The Burleigh Hill elevated residential streets above Burleigh Point offer views over the Burleigh Heads National Park headland. Goodwin Terrace overlooks the Burleigh Point surf break directly — one of Australia’s most iconic point breaks and the reason a significant portion of Burleigh bookings include surfboards heading to international surf destinations.
The inland Burleigh Waters canal-front and family residential network spreads to the west of the Gold Coast Highway. West Burleigh provides closer M1 on-ramp access via Reedy Creek Road and West Burleigh Road — the practical motorway entry for the northbound BNE run. Travelling with boards? See surfboard airport transfers for the full board-and-bag framework.
Fleet Available From Burleigh Heads
Two core vehicles handle the majority of Burleigh Heads to Brisbane Airport bookings — the Sedan or similar for 1–3 passengers (solo travellers, couples, business and executive travel) and the Kia Carnival for families with child seats arranged at booking, surfboard trips with the rear configuration prepared in advance and multi-suitcase international manifests. For groups of 8–11, the 12-seater Transporter handles wedding parties from Burleigh beachfront venues, group surf trips with larger board manifests and Schoolies cohorts.
| Vehicle | Capacity | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sedan or similar | 1–3 passengers | Up to 2 large suitcases (plus carry-on) | Solo travellers, couples, business and executive travel with light to medium luggage on the BNE long-leg run |
| Kia Carnival | Up to 7 passengers | Up to 6 large suitcases | Families with child seats arranged at booking, multi-generational groups, surfboard trips (up to 3 boards in 1–2 bags with rear configuration prepared in advance), multi-suitcase international manifests |
| 12-seater Transporter | 8–11 passengers | Up to 10 large suitcases | Wedding parties from Burleigh beachfront venues, group surf trips with larger board manifests, corporate groups, Schoolies cohorts |
Real Scenario: Burleigh Beach Tower Couple with Surfboards to BNE International
A couple in their early thirties lives in a beachfront apartment in Burleigh Beach Tower on The Esplanade. They’re heading to Bali on a two-week surf trip via a 9:00am international widebody departure from BNE International with a same-day onward connection.
Luggage manifest: two large suitcases, two carry-on bags, a 6’2″ shortboard and a 7’0″ mini-mal in a soft double-board bag, plus a small fin-and-accessories bag. The booking is placed two weeks ahead with the specific Burleigh Beach Tower building name and unit number on The Esplanade (essential — multiple apartment buildings sit in a row), the surfboard count and bag type and the surfboard requirement flagged so the rear configuration is set up for boards rather than maximum passenger seating. The locked quote covers the Carnival rate, GST and the Gateway Motorway toll, with the early-morning after-hours surcharge (4:30am pickup inside the 9pm–5am window) calculated and confirmed in the online quote.
CGC allocates a Kia Carnival with the rear configuration pre-set for boards and schedules a 4:30am pickup at Burleigh Beach Tower’s Esplanade entrance, confirmed in the night-before SMS with the building name specifically called out. On the morning the vehicle parks at the right building rather than the neighbouring apartments along the beachfront. Loading takes around eight minutes: suitcases in the rear cargo, double-board bag lengthwise into the second-row footwell along the sliding-door side, carry-ons on the second-row seat, fin bag on the front passenger seat.
The Carnival departs via The Esplanade, the Gold Coast Highway and the Reedy Creek Road on-ramp onto the M1 northbound; the early-morning corridor through Helensvale, Coomera, Pimpama, Yatala and Beenleigh is clear, the Logan merge and Gateway run cleanly and the Carnival reaches BNE International around 6:08am — roughly 1h 30min after leaving The Esplanade. International check-in opens at 6:00am and the couple clears check-in with the board bag tagged as oversized sporting equipment, with time to spare before the morning long-haul departure.

Frequently Asked Questions on Burleigh Heads to Brisbane Airport
How much does Burleigh Heads to Brisbane Airport cost?
A fixed $215 Sedan or similar, $275 Kia Carnival for the 97km run — based on standard operating hours 5am–9pm, with the Gateway toll included and the final quote locked at booking. Per vehicle, not per passenger. All prices include GST. After-hours, Christmas Day, Easter Sunday and optional extras may incur additional charges.
How long does Burleigh Heads to Brisbane Airport take?
Around 1h 25min–1h 30min off-peak via the Gold Coast Highway, the M1, the Logan Motorway merge and the Gateway Motorway into BNE — approximately 97 kilometres. Weekday morning peak adds 20–35 minutes through Yatala and the Logan Motorway merge. If you’re travelling in peak periods, allow up to 2 hours for the run.
How far is Burleigh Heads from Brisbane Airport?
Approximately 97km by road via the M1 Pacific Motorway, Logan Motorway and Gateway Motorway. The drive takes around 1 hour 25 to 1 hour 30 minutes off-peak.
Is the Gateway Motorway toll included?
Yes. Already inside the locked quote — no separate toll charge on arrival.
Are there after-hours charges?
Yes. Displayed pricing is based on standard operating hours from 5am to 9pm. After-hours transfers between 9pm and 5am may incur an additional surcharge, which is calculated and confirmed in your online quote before booking.
Can CGC accommodate surfboards plus luggage?
Yes. The Carnival fits up to 3 boards in 1–2 bags plus standard luggage, with the rear configuration prepared in advance (third-row seats folded). Boards up to around 7’2″ fit diagonally in the Carnival; longer boards need the Transporter. Flag count, lengths and bag type at booking so the right vehicle is sent.
Can you pick up from Burleigh Pavilion or Rick Shores?
Yes. CGC provides pickups from Burleigh Pavilion, Rick Shores and surrounding beachfront accommodation. Specific venue access instructions are confirmed at booking and in the night-before SMS.
Can CGC pick up from James Street, The Esplanade, Burleigh Hill, Goodwin Terrace and Burleigh Waters?
Yes. Specify the side-street loading bay (James Street), the apartment building name (Esplanade — multiple buildings in a row), the point-side address (Goodwin Terrace), the canal-front driveway landmark (Burleigh Waters) or the house number on the booking.
Why do I need to name the exact Esplanade apartment building?
The Esplanade beachfront has multiple apartment buildings sitting in a row — Burleigh Beach Tower, Burleigh Mediterranean and others. At a 4:00am pickup a pin drop can land at the wrong building, so naming the building means the driver arrives at the right entrance. The night-before SMS confirms it.
Should I fly from BNE or OOL?
OOL is far closer (around 15km versus 97km, about 20 minutes) and is the simpler choice for most domestic east-coast and short-haul Asia-Pacific travel. BNE is for international long-haul widebody connections to destinations such as Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Los Angeles and London — routes OOL doesn’t operate. See our Burleigh Heads to OOL page.
What pickup time do I need for a 9am international flight?
Approximately 4:30am from Burleigh Heads. The 97km run takes around 1h 30min off-peak plus the 3-hour international buffer, landing you at BNE International around 6:00am for check-in. A pre-5am pickup falls outside standard hours and may attract an after-hours surcharge.
What pickup time do I need for an 8am domestic flight?
Approximately 5:00am from Burleigh Heads. The 97km run takes around 1h 30min off-peak plus the 1.5-hour domestic buffer, landing you at BNE Domestic around 6:30am for check-in.
Are child seats available?
Yes. Child seats are arranged at booking and CGC fits the correct rear-facing capsule, forward-facing seat or booster on request. Queensland exempts booked hire from the mandatory restraint requirements that apply to private cars, but CGC fits the correct seat anyway — provide each child’s age and approximate size at booking. Multi-child configurations are handled in the Carnival. An additional child seat cost applies and is added to your quote at booking. See Queensland child restraint exemptions.
Does CGC surge for school holidays or Schoolies week?
No. The same locked rate applies year-round, including school holidays and Schoolies week. A higher rate applies only on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday. Book early during peak periods.
Are early-morning pickups available from Burleigh Heads?
Yes. Pre-booked early morning and after-hours transfers are available and early-morning 3am–5am pickups from Burleigh beachfront residences, James Street short-stays, Burleigh Waters family homes and West Burleigh are routine for early international BNE departures. Pickups before 5am fall outside standard operating hours and may attract an after-hours surcharge, confirmed in your online quote.
Do you charge for waiting time at Brisbane Airport?
No. There is no extra charge for airport waiting time. On arrivals we monitor your flight and generally allow 30 to 45 minutes after a domestic landing and 45 minutes to 1 hour after an international landing, for you to clear the terminal and collect your bags. You will receive a text confirming your transfer and where to meet the driver.
Is the return trip from Brisbane Airport the same price?
Not quite — the inbound leg is quoted separately and generally sits a little above the outbound, because runs starting at Brisbane Airport carry the airport access fee that outbound trips don’t. Both legs go on one reservation and both figures are shown before you confirm, so there’s no guesswork. We monitor your inbound flight and because where you’re met depends on which arrivals area your flight comes into, you’ll receive a text confirming your transfer with the exact meet point and arrival instructions — then we drop you at your apartment building, house driveway or holiday rental.
How much luggage can each vehicle take?
The Sedan or similar handles up to 2 large suitcases plus carry-on, the Kia Carnival up to 6 — and it also takes up to 3 surfboards in 1–2 bags with the rear configuration prepared in advance — while the 12-seater Transporter holds up to 10. Flag your bags and any boards at booking so the right vehicle is sent.
How do I pay?
You pay online by card when the booking is made, so nothing is handled in the car. Corporate accounts are available by prior approval.
What is the cancellation and flight-change policy?
Cancel more than 24 hours before pickup for a full credit toward a future booking; within 24 hours, no credit applies. If a flight is cancelled, you get a full credit beyond 4 hours, a 50% credit from 1.5 to 4 hours and none inside 1.5 hours. Credits are non-refundable and carry to your next trip. The full terms are on our About Us page.
Can you take a group of more than 11?
Yes. For parties above 11 — wedding groups from Burleigh beachfront venues, group surf trips or Schoolies cohorts — we run a multi-vehicle booking with several vehicles allocated together under one reservation. Send the total passenger and luggage numbers and we organise the fleet.
