Airport Transfers with Child Seats & Baby Seats – Gold Coast & Brisbane

The Short Answer

Baby seats and child seats are $35 per seat on any CGC transfer — Australian-Standards rear-facing baby seats, forward-facing child seats and booster seats, fitted before pickup, up to five in the Kia Carnival. Queensland exempts booked hire from mandatory restraint rules but CGC fits the correct seat regardless; on NSW pickups, children under 7 must be restrained by law.

Yes — CGC provides and fits baby seats and child seats on every Gold Coast Airport and Brisbane Airport transfer: rear-facing baby seat, forward-facing child seat or booster seat, $35 per seat, arranged at booking and fitted before pickup.

Travelling with a baby or young children? CGC Airport Transfers offers pre-booked airport transfers with baby seats, rear-facing child seats and booster seats for families travelling to and from Gold Coast Airport and Brisbane Airport.

Whether you’re travelling with a baby, toddler or older child, we can arrange suitable child restraints for your journey.

Getting through Gold Coast Airport (OOL) or Brisbane Airport (BNE) with young children is one of the most common reasons families book CGC rather than a taxi or rideshare — you shouldn’t have to lug your own seat through a terminal, or gamble on whether a car turns up with the right restraint. We carry Australian-Standards rear-facing baby seats, forward-facing child seats and booster seats, fit them before pickup, and itemise them at $35 per seat inside your locked quote.

This page explains the baby seat and child seat types by age, how the Queensland and New South Wales rules differ for booked-hire vehicles, how many seats fit in each vehicle, and how to arrange them at booking. For route-specific pricing and pickup times, start from the Gold Coast Airport route hub or the Brisbane Airport route hub.

✔ Rear-facing baby seat, forward-facing child seat or booster seat — Australian-Standards approved
✔ $35 per seat, itemised in your locked quote
✔ Fitted and checked before the driver arrives
✔ Up to 5 seats in the Kia Carnival
✔ No in-car payment — arranged online at booking

Which Baby Seat or Child Seat Does My Child Need?

CGC provides a range of Australian-Standards baby seats and child seats for every stage, and fits the correct one for your child’s age and size:

Rear-facing baby seat — 0 to 6 months. An approved rear-facing infant seat for newborns — a Mother’s Choice Accord AP convertible seat fitted rear-facing, not a clip-in capsule.
Rear- or forward-facing child seat — 6 months to 2 years, depending on your child’s size.
Forward-facing child seat with 6-point harness — 2 to 6 years.
Transitional booster seat — 6 to 8 years, until the adult seatbelt fits correctly across the shoulder and lap.

These are age guides — the right restraint depends on your child’s actual height and weight. Tell us each child’s age and approximate size at booking and we prepare the right seat. If you’re unsure which your child needs, flag it and we’ll help you work it out.

How Much Do Baby Seats and Child Seats Cost?

Baby seats and child seats are an optional extra at $35 per seat, added to your quote at booking. The charge is per seat, so two children needing restraints is $70, added to the vehicle price. There’s no in-car payment — the seat cost sits inside the locked quote you pay online, and nothing is handled on the day.

Item	Detail	Cost
Baby or child seat (any type)	Rear-facing baby seat, forward-facing child seat or booster seat — provided and fitted	$35 per seat
Fitting	Installed and safety-checked before pickup	Included
Multiple seats	Each additional seat	$35 each

Add child seats to your booking →

The seat cost is itemised in your quote before you confirm — you see the full total, vehicle plus seats, with GST included and nothing to pay in the car.

How Many Baby and Child Seats Fit in Each Vehicle?

Vehicle choice depends on how many seats you need alongside passengers and luggage. The 7-seat Kia Carnival is the workhorse for families — it takes up to 5 baby and child seats and still has room for luggage.

Sedan or similar Up to 1child seat

Passengers1–3

Luggage2 large + 2 carry-on

For larger family groups or multiple young children, tell us the full manifest — passenger count, ages, and how many of each seat type — and we match the vehicle to it. Groups over 11 run as multiple vehicles on one reservation.

“I fit the seats before I leave for the pickup, not at your kerb — by the time the car reaches you the rear-facing seat is anchored, the harness is set to your child’s size and I’ve pull-tested the lot. Parents hand me the ages at booking; the rest is my job.”

Child Restraint Law: Queensland vs New South Wales

CGC operates across South East Queensland and Northern NSW, and the two states treat booked-hire vehicles differently. We fit the correct seat regardless of which side of the border you’re travelling from — but it’s worth understanding the rule.

Queensland

Queensland law requires children under 7 to travel in an approved child restraint suited to their age and size in a private vehicle. Booked-hire vehicles (taxis and services like CGC) have a specific exemption from the mandatory-restraint requirement — but an exemption is not a recommendation. CGC fits the correct Australian-Standards seat on every Queensland transfer where a child needs one, because it’s the safe thing to do, exemption or not.

See the Queensland Government child restraint rules for the full framework.

New South Wales

New South Wales applies the private-car rules to hire vehicles — there’s no booked-hire exemption. On any NSW pickup (Tweed Heads, Kingscliff, Byron Bay, Ballina and the Northern Rivers), children under 7 must be in an approved child restraint suited to their age. So for a NSW cross-border transfer, the correct seat isn’t just recommended — it’s required, and we fit it as standard.

See the NSW child car seat rules for detail.

The simple version: whether you’re departing from a Queensland suburb or a Northern NSW one, if your child needs a restraint, CGC provides and fits it. You never need to bring your own or worry about the legal difference across the border — flag it at booking and it’s handled.

Transport for NSW reports that around half of all child restraints aren’t fitted or used correctly — which is the whole argument for seats that arrive already installed and checked by the driver, rather than wrestled in at the kerb.

How to Arrange Baby Seats and Child Seats at Booking

Add baby seats and child seats when you book online, or mention them when you call — airport transfers with rear-facing baby seats, forward-facing child seats or boosters all book the same way. To prepare the right restraint we need:

Each child’s age — so we bring the correct seat type
Approximate height and weight — for children near a size transition (rear-facing to forward-facing, or forward-facing to booster)
How many of each — if you have more than one child needing a restraint
Any preference — if you’d like a specific configuration, tell us and we’ll set it up

The seat is fitted and safety-checked before the driver leaves for your pickup, so it’s ready and secure when the car arrives. The $35-per-seat cost is itemised in your quote, GST included, and paid online with the rest of the fare — no cash, no in-car payment.

Gold Coast Airport Transfers with Baby Seats and Child Seats for a Family

For a family landing at OOL, Gold Coast Airport transfers with child seats or baby seats work like this: book the transfer, tell us the children’s ages, and the right restraints are installed before the car reaches the terminal — $35 per seat on top of your route’s fixed per-vehicle fare. A pickup from OOL to Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach, for example, is $105 sedan or $135 Kia Carnival, so two adults, a toddler in a forward-facing seat and a baby in a rear-facing baby seat ride door-to-door for $205 in the Carnival — seats fitted, driver waiting inside the terminal with a name sign, pram and luggage in the boot. You never need to bring your own seats or carry them through the airport, and the Carnival takes up to five restraints for bigger crews.

Brisbane Airport Transfers with Baby Seats and Child Seats

The same applies on Brisbane Airport transfers with child seats or baby seats: tell us the ages at booking and the rear-facing baby seat, forward-facing child seat or booster seat is fitted and checked before the driver leaves for your pickup, with the Gateway Motorway toll inside the one locked quote. Surfers Paradise to Brisbane Airport, for example, is $200 sedan or $260 Kia Carnival per vehicle, plus $35 per seat. The BNE run is a longer drive than the hop to OOL — roughly 60 to 90 minutes from most Gold Coast suburbs — so a correctly fitted Australian-Standards seat matters even more, and on arrivals we monitor the flight and meet you with the seats already installed. Route-by-route fares and pickup timing are on the Brisbane Airport route hub.

Baby Seat & Child Seat FAQs

Do CGC airport transfers provide baby seats and child seats?

Yes. CGC provides and fits baby seats and child seats on every Gold Coast Airport and Brisbane Airport transfer — rear-facing baby seat, forward-facing child seat or booster seat, all Australian-Standards approved. They’re $35 per seat, arranged at booking and fitted before pickup. You never need to bring your own.

How much does a baby seat or child seat cost?

$35 per seat, added to your quote at booking. The charge is per seat, so two children needing restraints is $70 on top of the vehicle price. GST is included and it’s paid online with the fare — no in-car payment.

Do I legally need a baby seat or child seat in a taxi or booked-hire vehicle?

It depends on the state. In Queensland, booked-hire vehicles have an exemption from the mandatory child-restraint rule that applies to private cars — but CGC fits the correct seat regardless, because it’s safer. In New South Wales there’s no such exemption: hire vehicles follow private-car rules, so children under 7 must be in an approved restraint on any NSW pickup. Either way, if your child needs a seat, we provide and fit it.

What type of baby seat or child seat will my child need?

CGC covers every stage: a rear-facing baby seat from newborn (0–6 months, an approved seat rather than a capsule); a rear- or forward-facing child seat from 6 months to 2 years; a forward-facing child seat with a 6-point harness from 2 to 6 years; and a transitional booster seat from 6 to 8 years, until the adult belt fits correctly. These are age guides — the right restraint depends on your child’s actual height and weight, so tell us their age and approximate size at booking and we prepare the correct one.

How many baby and child seats can you fit?

Up to 1 in a sedan, up to 5 in the 7-seat Kia Carnival and up to 2 in the 12-seater VW Crafter (up to 11 passengers), alongside passengers and luggage. For a group with several young children, two Kia Carnivals take up to 5 seats each — tell us the full passenger, age and seat breakdown at booking and we match the vehicles.

Are the seats already fitted when the driver arrives?

Yes. The seat is installed and safety-checked before the driver leaves for your pickup, so it’s secure and ready when the car arrives — no fitting delay at the kerb, and no need for you to install anything.

Do you fit baby and child seats for the return trip too?

Yes. Book both legs on one reservation and the seats are fitted for the return transfer as well — we monitor the incoming flight and meet you on arrival with the correct restraints ready.

Do Gold Coast Airport transfers include baby seats and child seats?

With CGC, yes — on request at booking. Australian-Standards baby seats, forward-facing child seats and booster seats are supplied and fitted before pickup for $35 per seat on any transfer, to or from either airport. Tell us ages when you book and the car arrives ready.

Can you do a Gold Coast Airport transfer with baby seats and child seats for a family of five?

Easily — the 7-seat Kia Carnival takes the whole family plus luggage, with up to five child restraints fitted. Give us the ages at booking and every child is in the correct seat before the car reaches you.

Do you have rear-facing baby seats for newborns?

Yes — rear-facing baby seats suitable from birth, fitted and checked by the driver before pickup, $35 like every other restraint. Just tell us the baby’s age at booking.

At what age can my child use a booster instead of a full seat?

As a rule of thumb: rear-facing baby seats to around 6–12 months, forward-facing child seats to about 4 years, booster seats from roughly 4 to 7. We fit to your child’s age and size — tell us both and we’ll bring the right one.

Does a baby count as a passenger?

Yes — every child, including a baby in a rear-facing baby seat, occupies a seat and counts toward the vehicle’s capacity. The sedan suits up to 3 passengers total; the Carnival up to 7.

Can you fit a pram, luggage and the baby and child seats all at once?

Yes. Seats are installed before pickup, so the boot stays free for the pram and cases — the Carnival takes a full family’s luggage alongside up to five fitted restraints.

Do taxis and rideshare at Gold Coast Airport provide baby seats or child seats?

Generally no — rank taxis and rideshare rarely guarantee a restraint, and QLD’s exemption for taxis doesn’t make an unrestrained trip a good idea. A pre-booked CGC car arrives with the correct seats already fitted.

Do you do Brisbane Airport transfers with baby seats?

Yes. Brisbane Airport transfers with baby seats and child seats are a standard CGC booking from any Gold Coast or Northern NSW address. Tell us the ages when you book and the rear-facing baby seat, forward-facing child seat or booster seat is fitted and checked before the driver leaves, with the Gateway Motorway toll inside your locked quote and $35 per seat added to the per-vehicle fare.

Do you offer family airport transfers with booster seats?

Yes. Booster seats are $35 per seat like every other restraint, fitted before pickup for children who have outgrown a harnessed child seat but still need a boost until the adult belt fits correctly. The 7-seat Kia Carnival takes up to five restraints in any mix of baby seats, child seats and boosters, so a family with three children of different ages travels in one vehicle.

Do I pay for the baby and child seats separately?

No — they’re added to your booking at $35 per seat and included in the one locked quote. Nothing to pay in the car, GST included.

How far ahead should I book if I need baby seats or child seats?

As soon as you have flights. Seats are allocated per booking, and booking ahead guarantees the exact baby seat, child seat or booster your children need is reserved and fitted for your pickup.

Do you provide baby seats and child seats for pickups from Byron Bay and Northern NSW?

Yes — and in NSW they’re legally required for every child under 7 in a booked-hire vehicle, with no taxi-style exemption. Tell us ages at booking; the restraints are fitted before we cross the border to collect you.

Are the baby seats and child seats cleaned and safety-checked?

Yes — every seat is an Australian-Standards restraint, cleaned between uses and installed by the driver, who checks the fit before the trip starts.

Can we keep the same seats for the return transfer to the airport?

Yes — book both legs on one reservation and the same restraint setup is fitted for the trip home, with 5% off the return leg.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. How good is this service! Huge storm no visability but no issues. Big delay and went another way and delivered me to the airport ahead of schedule. Perhaps they could manage the aircraft as it was a steep downhill after this terrific service

Owner's reply
Thanks so much for the awesome review! That storm was abit Nuts, so I’m glad we still got you to the airport nice and early. Gotta say, we loved the aircraft joke too!

Thanks again for choosing CGC Airport Transfers. See you when you return.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently travelled from Adelaide to Gold Coast for a short holiday to celebrate my mum's 60th and as a big family reunion. Chris, the proprietor and manager of CGC Transfers, initially our Uber driver, had picked us up from the airport and has provided us with the friendliest and most accommodating private transport experience. After Chris had informed us of his Private Transport business, I asked for a quote on the spot based on our itinerary and he was quick to provide with no hidden costs or issues. The price was fair given the high demands of the season and it comes with excellent communication and service from your own private driver. Highly recommend to book CGC Transfers particularly if you're in larger groups of 5-8 plus luggage. Thanks again Chris, hope to have you look after us again in the future.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had Zaffa as our driver from Biggera Waters to the Gold Coast Airport on 30/4/25, could not have been happier that we selected them for our transport. Zaf was on time, car was great and a very pleasant trip. Also cheaper than a Taxi.
