The Law, Plainly

In Queensland, booked-hire vehicles carry an exemption — restraints aren’t legally required in our vehicles, but tell us the ages and they’ll be fitted regardless. In New South Wales there’s no equivalent exemption — children under 7 must be in an approved restraint for any NSW pickup or drop-off, so every Tweed Coast, Kingscliff and Byron journey travels seated. Either side of the border, our answer is the same: the right seat, properly fitted, every time.

What a Capsule Booking Looks Like on the Day

You book the transfer and put the baby’s age in the notes. Before the car leaves for your pickup, the driver installs a rear-facing capsule — anchored, harness sized to a newborn, pull-tested — so when the vehicle arrives the only job left is clipping the baby in. At the terminal the capsule stays in the car; nothing to carry through check-in, nothing to hire at the other end, and the pram goes in the boot beside the luggage.

Capsule or Convertible Seat — Which Gets Fitted

Under about six months we fit a rear-facing capsule; from roughly six months to four years a convertible seat, rear-facing for as long as the child fits that way. Tell us the age and weight if you know it and the right restraint is chosen for you — the same $35 per seat either way, and the same Australian Standard. Transport for NSW reports that around half of all child restraints aren’t fitted or used correctly — the whole reason the seat arrives already installed and checked by the driver, not wrestled in at the kerb.

Does the baby count as a passenger?

Yes — every child occupies a seat and counts toward capacity. The sedan suits up to 3 passengers total; the Kia Carnival up to 7.

Do you provide capsules for pickups from Gold Coast Airport as well as Brisbane?

Yes — both airports, both directions, on any CGC transfer. The capsule is fitted before the driver heads to the terminal to meet you.

Is the capsule Australian-Standards approved?

Yes — every restraint we supply meets the Australian Standard, is cleaned between uses and is installed and checked by the driver before the trip starts.

What if we’re flying into NSW — Byron Bay or the Tweed?

The same capsule is fitted; in NSW every child under 7 is legally required to be in an approved restraint in a booked-hire vehicle, with no taxi-style exemption. Ages at booking is all we need.

Can twins both have capsules?

Yes — up to five restraints fit in the Kia Carnival, so two capsules plus an older sibling’s seat is routine. $35 per seat, all fitted before pickup.

How far ahead should I book a capsule?

As soon as you have flights — restraints are allocated per booking, so booking ahead guarantees the capsule is reserved and fitted for your pickup.

Do I pay for the capsule separately?

No — it’s added to your booking at $35 per seat and included in the one locked quote. Nothing to pay in the car.

What happens if our flight is delayed with a baby on board?

Nothing you need to manage — every airport pickup is flight-monitored, so the driver works from the actual landing time, capsule already fitted, at no extra cost.

Can we keep the same capsule for the return transfer?

Yes — book both legs on one reservation and the same restraint is fitted for the trip home, with 5% off the return leg.

How good is this service! Huge storm no visability but no issues. Big delay and went another way and delivered me to the airport ahead of schedule. Perhaps they could manage the aircraft as it was a steep downhill after this terrific service

We recently travelled from Adelaide to Gold Coast for a short holiday to celebrate my mum's 60th and as a big family reunion. Chris, the proprietor and manager of CGC Transfers, initially our Uber driver, had picked us up from the airport and has provided us with the friendliest and most accommodating private transport experience. After Chris had informed us of his Private Transport business, I asked for a quote on the spot based on our itinerary and he was quick to provide with no hidden costs or issues. The price was fair given the high demands of the season and it comes with excellent communication and service from your own private driver. Highly recommend to book CGC Transfers particularly if you're in larger groups of 5-8 plus luggage. Thanks again Chris, hope to have you look after us again in the future.

We had Zaffa as our driver from Biggera Waters to the Gold Coast Airport on 30/4/25, could not have been happier that we selected them for our transport. Zaf was on time, car was great and a very pleasant trip. Also cheaper than a Taxi.
