Where this route actually loses time: not the Gateway and not the Gold Coast end. The two pinch points are the Yatala stretch of the M1 and the Logan Motorway merge at Loganholme. Both are clear before about 5:30am, which is why early international departures out of Surfers run almost exactly to the off-peak number.

Infrastructure Australia lists the M1 between Eight Mile Plains and Tugun as carrying in excess of 150,000 vehicles a day, including over 12,000 heavy vehicles, on its Infrastructure Priority List — the corridor this run joins at Smith Street and rides to the Logan merge, and the reason the pickup times below are built from the hour you travel, not the distance.

Best for Major international connections and wider domestic capacity Domestic east-coast, New Zealand and short-haul international

OOL is far closer and is usually the simpler choice for domestic and trans-Tasman trips — see our Surfers Paradise to OOL page. BNE is the right choice from Surfers when the flight network demands it — the international long-haul widebody network out of Brisbane serving Europe, the Middle East, North America and Asia, routes OOL doesn’t operate. Unsure which one your itinerary points at? The airport transfer pricing guide walks through the decision.

Brisbane Airport Terminals From Surfers Paradise

Domestic Terminal — for most Surfers travellers this is the interstate mainline: Qantas, Virgin Australia, Jetstar and regional services to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

International Terminal — the long-haul carriers that bring hotel guests, conference travellers and families to BNE rather than OOL, including Emirates, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Air New Zealand and Fiji Airways. We check your flight before travel so the driver targets the right terminal. For terminal layout and check-in planning, see our Brisbane Airport terminal guide.

Surfers Paradise: Central Beachfront Tower Precinct

Surfers Paradise is the Gold Coast’s central beachfront tower precinct — the highest-density accommodation and entertainment hub, bordered by Main Beach to the north, Broadbeach to the south, the Nerang River to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east.

The Q1 Resort dominates the skyline at 80 storeys. Hilton, Soul, JW Marriott, Crowne Plaza, Voco, Mantra Circle on Cavill and Chevron Renaissance anchor the tower-precinct accommodation. Major landmarks including SkyPoint Observation Deck, Cavill Mall and the Surfers Paradise beachfront precinct generate a high volume of Brisbane Airport transfer bookings throughout the year.

The one detail that decides a Surfers pickup: the specific hotel entrance. Q1 valet is on Hamilton Avenue, below the tower. Hilton is Orchid Avenue, not Cavill. JW Marriott main entry is Ferny Avenue, distinct from side-villa access. Soul uses the Esplanade beachfront entry opposite Cavill Mall. The booking record captures it and the night-before SMS confirms it.

Ferny Avenue, Cypress Avenue and Surfers Paradise Boulevard are the common access roads for hotel and apartment pickups before joining the Smith Street Motorway.

During Schoolies week, CGC still operates pre-booked private transfers at the locked quoted rate, with hotel entrance notes used to avoid crowded Cavill Avenue pickup points where possible. Surfers Paradise bookings often include hotel guests, international families, conference travellers, executives and long-haul passengers using BNE for routes not available from Gold Coast Airport. Travelling as a group or with a conference cohort? See conference delegate transfers and large group airport transfers.

“Surfers to Brisbane is the run I could drive asleep — up the Highway to Smith Street, onto the M1 and nothing to decide until the Logan merge. The one thing that moves is Yatala between half-six and half-nine, so a morning flight gets a pickup built around that, not around the map.”

— Chris, owner-driver

Give each child’s age at booking and the right seat is in place when the car reaches you. See baby seats and child seats for how each stage works.

Real Scenario: Hilton Surfers Paradise to BNE International

A family of four ends a Gold Coast holiday at Hilton Surfers Paradise: two parents, a six-year-old in a booster and a four-year-old in a forward-facing seat. Their onward flight is an 8:00am international departure from BNE International, so the family books the Carnival with both child seats requested in advance.

The booking is placed through the Hilton concierge ten days ahead with the Orchid Avenue entrance, the Carnival rate and the two child seats requested. The locked quote covers the Carnival rate including the Gateway Motorway toll and GST, with the child seat cost and the early-morning after-hours surcharge calculated and confirmed in the online quote.

CGC allocates a Kia Carnival with both seats pre-fitted and schedules a 3:40am pickup at the Orchid Avenue main entrance, confirmed in the night-before SMS. On the morning, bellhop coordination loads the suitcases, carry-on bags, backpacks and folded stroller in around four minutes. The Carnival departs via Hamilton Avenue, the Gold Coast Highway and Smith Street Motorway onto the M1; the early-morning corridor through Yatala, the Logan merge and the Gateway runs completely clear and the Carnival reaches BNE International around 5:00am as international check-in opens, with comfortable time before the long-haul departure.

Is There a Train From Surfers Paradise to Brisbane Airport?

Not from Surfers itself. The G:link tram from the Surfers Paradise or Surfers Paradise North stops runs north to Helensvale station, where Airtrain connects with the tram and runs through to both Brisbane Airport terminals without a change in the city — every 15 minutes at peak times and every 30 minutes off-peak, with the first weekday departure for the airport at 4:10am (5:40am at weekends and public holidays) and the last at 8:10pm, according to Airtrain’s frequency and hours page. The tram runs every 7.5 minutes at peak. Count the tram, the wait at Helensvale and the rail leg, and the door-to-door trip is a good deal longer than the 1h 20min drive, with a per-person fare for each of you and the bags on two platforms — and no service early enough for the 4:40am pickup a 9am international departure needs.

Door to door, CGC is a fixed $200 sedan or $260 Kia Carnival, the same in both directions with the Gateway toll included, with the flight monitored and a kerbside pickup at either terminal on the way home. If you want the train for the Brisbane end, we also run Surfers Paradise to Helensvale station, quoted at booking.

Frequently Asked Questions on Surfers Paradise to Brisbane Airport

How much does Surfers Paradise to Brisbane Airport cost?

A fixed $200 Sedan or similar, $260 Kia Carnival for the 85km run — based on standard rates (6am–9pm), with the Gateway toll included and the final quote locked at booking. Per vehicle, not per passenger. All prices include GST. After-hours, Easter Sunday and optional extras may incur additional charges (closed on Christmas Day).

How long does Surfers Paradise to Brisbane Airport take?

Around 1h 20min off-peak via the Gold Coast Highway, Smith Street Motorway, M1, Logan Motorway merge and Gateway Motorway into BNE — approximately 85km. Weekday morning peak adds 20–35 minutes through Yatala and the Logan Motorway merge. If you’re travelling in peak periods, allow up to 2 hours for the run.

Can CGC pick up from the Hilton, Q1, Soul and JW Marriott?

Yes. Specify the entrance at booking — Hilton is Orchid Avenue (not Cavill), Q1 is the Hamilton Avenue valet, Soul is the Esplanade beachfront and JW Marriott is Ferny Avenue. The booking record captures the specific entrance and the night-before SMS confirms it.

Can you pick up from Airbnb apartments in Surfers Paradise?

Yes. CGC services Airbnb, Stayz and privately managed apartments throughout Surfers Paradise. Provide the building name, street address, tower entrance and any access instructions when booking and the exact pickup point is confirmed in the night-before SMS.

Is the Gateway Motorway toll included?

Yes. Already inside the locked quote — no separate toll charge on arrival.

Are there after-hours charges?

Yes. Displayed pricing is based on standard rates, which apply 6am–9pm — we’re available 24/7 except Christmas Day. After-hours transfers between 9pm and 6am may incur an additional surcharge, which is calculated and confirmed in your online quote before booking.

Should I fly from BNE or OOL?

OOL is far closer (around 28km, about 40 minutes) and is usually the simpler choice for domestic east-coast and short-haul Asia-Pacific travel. BNE is for the international long-haul widebody routes that OOL doesn’t operate. See our Surfers Paradise to OOL page for the closer alternative.

What pickup time do I need for a 9am international flight?

Approximately 4:40am from Surfers Paradise. The 85km run takes around 1h 20min off-peak plus the 3-hour international buffer, landing you at BNE International around 6:00am for check-in. A pre-6am pickup falls outside standard hours and may attract an after-hours surcharge.

What pickup time do I need for a 9am domestic flight?

Approximately 5:40am from Surfers Paradise. The 85km run takes around 1h 20min off-peak plus the 2-hour domestic buffer, landing you at BNE Domestic around 7:00am.

Are baby and child seats available?

Yes. Baby seats and child seats are arranged at booking and CGC fits the correct rear-facing baby seat, forward-facing child seat or booster on request. Queensland exempts booked hire from the mandatory restraint requirements that apply to private cars, but CGC fits the correct seat anyway — provide each child’s age and approximate size at booking. Multi-child configurations are handled in the Carnival. Seats are $35 each, added to your quote at booking. See Queensland child restraint exemptions.

Can you carry surfboards to the airport?

Yes. The Kia Carnival fits up to 3 boards in 1–2 board bags alongside passenger luggage. Flag the board count, lengths and bag type at booking so the right vehicle is sent — larger board loads or longer boards may need the VW Crafter (up to 11 passengers).

Does CGC surge for school holidays or Schoolies week?

No. The same locked rate applies year-round, including school holidays, Schoolies week and major event weekends. A higher rate applies only on Easter Sunday (closed on Christmas Day).

Do you charge for waiting time at Brisbane Airport?

Waiting is included for 45 minutes after a domestic landing and 90 minutes after an international one, from actual landing — $2 a minute after that. We monitor your flight, so a delayed landing moves the pickup rather than starting the clock, and you will receive a text confirming your transfer and where to meet the driver.

Is the return trip from Brisbane Airport the same price?

Yes — Brisbane Airport fares are the same in both directions, so the trip home is the same fixed price as the trip out. Both legs go on one reservation with 5% off the return leg, and both figures are shown before you confirm, so there’s no guesswork. We monitor your inbound flight and because where you’re met depends on which arrivals area your flight comes into, you’ll receive a text confirming your transfer with the exact meet point and arrival instructions — then we drop you at your hotel entrance or apartment lobby.

How much luggage can each vehicle take?

The Sedan or similar handles up to 2 large suitcases plus carry-on, the Kia Carnival up to 9 with 1 to 4 passengers (7 with five, 6 with six or seven) — and it also takes up to 3 surfboards in 1–2 bags — while the 12-seater VW Crafter (up to 11 passengers) holds up to 8 for a full group, with a luggage trailer for more. Flag your bags and any boards at booking so the right vehicle is sent.

How do I pay?

You pay online by card when the booking is made, so nothing is handled in the car. Corporate accounts are available by prior approval.

What is the cancellation and flight-change policy?

Cancel more than 24 hours before pickup for a full credit toward a future booking; within 24 hours, no credit applies. If a flight is cancelled, you get a full credit beyond 4 hours, a 50% credit from 1.5 to 4 hours and none inside 1.5 hours. Credits are non-refundable and carry to your next trip. The full terms are on our About Us page.

Can you take a group of more than 11?

Yes. Up to 14 travel as two vehicles on one reservation — the booking form adds a second Kia Carnival or a sedan and prices it there — and 15 or more is a call to 0416 131 285. Every vehicle leaves together, timed to the same flight.

Where will my driver meet me at Brisbane Airport?

Brisbane Airport pickups are kerbside in the designated pickup zone at both the Domestic and International terminals — your SMS booking confirmation includes the exact meet point and arrival instructions. Prefer to be met inside the terminal? Inside-terminal meet and greet is available at BNE as a $49 add-on.

Is there a train from Surfers Paradise to Brisbane Airport?

Not directly: the G:link tram from Surfers Paradise runs to Helensvale station, where Airtrain connects and runs through to both Brisbane Airport terminals every 15 minutes at peak times and every 30 off-peak, with the first weekday train at 4:10am and the last at 8:10pm — a tram, a train, a per-person fare and your bags on two platforms. A CGC transfer is door to door for a fixed $200 sedan or $260 Kia Carnival, Gateway toll included, at any hour.

How much is Surfers Paradise to Gold Coast Airport?

A fixed $90 sedan or $120 Kia Carnival to the airport — about 28 km, around 40 minutes off-peak, no tolls — and $105 / $135 as a pickup from the airport, because airport pickups include the airport access fee and in-terminal meet and greet.

Can I get a quote by text or WhatsApp?

Yes. Text or WhatsApp our AI assistant Cooly on 0485 057 498 at any hour. Cooly quotes the fixed fare for Surfers Paradise to Brisbane Airport, asks how many are travelling and whether baby seats or child seats are needed ($35 each), confirms the pickup in Queensland time and sends a secure payment link; nothing is held until it’s paid. Cooly books fixed routes only and quotes but doesn’t book trips inside 12 hours; for anything else reply TALK or call 0416 131 285.

Tip for Surfers travellers heading to BNE: Major Surfers hotels operate specific entrances that aren’t always obvious from the main street. Hilton sits on Orchid Avenue not Cavill; Q1 valet is below the tower on Hamilton Avenue; JW Marriott main entry on Ferny Avenue is distinct from side-villa access; Soul uses the Esplanade beachfront entry opposite Cavill Mall. Naming the specific entrance on the booking means the driver pulls up at the right kerb at 4:00am rather than a phone call from the wrong side of the same building.
