Distance. Gold Coast Airport is 30–45 minutes from Surfers Paradise on the toll-free Gold Coast Highway; Brisbane Airport is around 70–90 minutes up the M1 with the Gateway toll, and up to two hours in peak traffic. If your flights do land at Brisbane, Surfers Paradise is a fixed $200 sedan or $260 Kia Carnival with the toll included. OOL runs direct services from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth, which covers where most Schoolies cohorts come from, and the compact single-level terminal makes meeting a group of eleven far easier than a larger airport.
How does CGC handle OOL congestion during Schoolies week?
The Saturday afternoon pattern is predictable — the 3pm–5pm window is the peak. Can we book the return at the same time?
Yes, and it’s standard practice. Booking both legs on one reservation locks the quote in both directions and takes 5% off the return leg. Particularly useful for a tired group heading home end-of-week, often on a pre-dawn departure with the after-hours fee already in the locked quote.
How do we pay for a schoolies booking?
Card online at booking — usually a parent’s — with one per-vehicle price, GST included, and nothing for the group to settle in the car.
Can schoolies drink alcohol in the car?
No. Under Queensland law alcohol can’t be consumed in the vehicle, and smoking and illegal drugs aren’t permitted. If a passenger is heavily intoxicated or behaving in an unruly or unsafe way, the driver can refuse to continue — the booking is then cancelled with no refund, as set out in our booking terms.
What is the cancellation policy for schoolies transfers?
Cancel more than 24 hours before pickup and the full amount is held as credit for a future booking; within 24 hours of pickup, no credit applies. If the airline cancels your flight: full credit more than 4 hours before pickup, 50% credit between 1.5 and 4 hours, and no credit within 1.5 hours. Credits aren’t refundable, and a delayed flight is never treated as a cancellation.
Do you cover Byron Bay schoolies week as well?
