Hotel: Mantra Legends Hotel, Surfers Paradise QLD 4217 — full-service hotel at the Cavill Avenue mall end of the precinct
To Gold Coast Airport (OOL): about 25 km, usually 30–40 minutes — sedan a fixed $90
To Brisbane Airport (BNE): about 78 km, usually 65–85 minutes (allow up to 2 hours in peak) — sedan a fixed $200, Gateway toll included
Airport pickups: quoted separately — an airport access fee applies to inbound legs
Pickup point: the hotel driveway, coordinated with the front desk — not the pedestrian mall frontage
Hours: standard 6am–9pm; pickups between 9pm and 6am carry an after-hours fee confirmed inside the locked quote
Mantra Legends has the most walkable position of any hotel in these guides and that comes with one consequence worth understanding: the side of the building people arrive at on foot is not the side a vehicle can reach. The Cavill Avenue mall is closed to traffic. If you picture the hotel from the mall — which is how most guests picture it — you’re picturing a frontage no car will ever pull up to.
It’s a small thing that causes a disproportionate amount of confusion and it’s the single most useful piece of information on this page. Below: both airports, honest drive times, where the vehicle actually goes and how the hotel’s conference and event traffic shapes departures.
- ✔ A fixed $90 sedan to OOL, $200 sedan to BNE — GST included
- ✔ Gateway Motorway toll inside the Brisbane price
- ✔ Collection at the vehicle driveway, coordinated with the front desk
- ✔ Conference and group departures timed flight by flight on one reservation
- ✔ Flight monitored on every airport pickup, wait time not charged
- ✔ Child seats provided and fitted, $35 per seat
About Mantra Legends Hotel
Mantra Legends Hotel sits at the mall end of Cavill Avenue in Surfers Paradise, one of the closest hotels to both the beach and the tram in the entire precinct. Unlike most of the surrounding towers it’s a conventional full-service hotel rather than apartments — hotel rooms and suites with daily housekeeping, on-site dining and bar, pool and gym and conference and function space.
Room categories, dining venues and facility access change over time — confirm current details directly with the hotel when you book your stay.
The hotel format changes the transfer picture in a way that’s worth noting if you’ve read our apartment pages. Hotel guests travel lighter than apartment guests: a two-night stay with cabin bags rather than a week’s self-catering with five suitcases. That makes the sedan the right vehicle far more often here than at a Meriton or a Peppers and it makes the departures quicker to load. The exception is the conference and group side, which is where the larger vehicles earn their keep.
Quick answer: Mantra Legends Hotel is a full-service hotel at the Cavill Avenue mall end of Surfers Paradise. It is about 25 km from Gold Coast Airport and about 78 km from Brisbane Airport.

The mall frontage and where the car actually goes
Cavill Avenue mall is a pedestrian zone. No vehicle can enter it, which means the entrance most guests use to come and go on foot is not a pickup point and never will be. Transfers collect from the hotel’s vehicle driveway instead, which the front desk can direct you to.
Why it matters more than it sounds: this precinct is thick with pedestrians and a first-time visitor standing at the mall entrance with luggage has no visual cue that they’re on the wrong side of the building. It’s the most common source of confusion at any address in these guides — not a traffic problem, just a geography problem.
On our side it’s handled by writing the correct point on the booking. Your SMS the night before names the driveway, the driver’s name and the vehicle registration and the front desk knows where transfers stage. Nothing to work out on the morning.
The reason the mall position is worth having despite that: from here the beach, the tram, the restaurants and the nightlife are all on foot. A guest here needs a car twice — arriving and leaving — and that’s it.

Mantra Legends to Gold Coast Airport (OOL)
Quick answer: Gold Coast Airport is about 25 km south. A private transfer takes 30–40 minutes in normal traffic and costs a fixed $90 for a sedan, $120 for a Kia Carnival — GST included, price locked at booking. Airport pickups in the reverse direction are quoted separately.
The vehicle leaves the driveway, works out of the precinct and heads south on either the Gold Coast Highway through the beach suburbs or the M1, whichever is moving. Being a central Surfers address, the run itself is unremarkable — it’s the standard southern route every property on this stretch uses.
Traffic on this route
The beachfront suburbs between Mermaid Beach and Palm Beach congest on weekday afternoons from roughly 3pm to 6pm and that stretch sits directly on the highway route south. A trip that runs 30 minutes mid-morning can take closer to 50 in that window. Where the M1 is faster the driver takes it; where it isn’t, the margin covers it. Your quoted price is unaffected either way.
Late-evening departures
Surfers runs a lot of evening flights and this end of the precinct is at its busiest on Thursday-to-Sunday nights. It affects getting clear of the immediate blocks more than the drive south. Pickups after 9pm carry an after-hours fee, confirmed inside your quote before you pay.
Mantra Legends to Brisbane Airport (BNE)
Quick answer: Brisbane Airport is about 78 km north. A private transfer takes 65–85 minutes in normal traffic and costs a fixed $200 for a sedan, $260 for a Kia Carnival — Gateway Motorway toll and GST included, price locked at booking. Airport pickups in the reverse direction are quoted separately.
Northbound the route clears the precinct, joins the M1 and runs to the Logan Motorway and then the Gateway Motorway for either terminal. Brisbane’s Domestic and International terminals are separate buildings several minutes apart, so specify which one at booking. The Gateway toll sits inside your quoted price.
Traffic on this route
Northbound weekday mornings carry Brisbane commuter traffic from about 6am to 9am, which overlaps with most departure flights — allow toward the upper end of the range midweek. Southbound peaks from 3pm to 6:30pm. Friday is heaviest both ways and long weekends and school-holiday Fridays can push past 90 minutes. Pre-dawn runs are clear on both the precinct streets and the motorway.
Arriving at Brisbane Airport
On inbound legs an SMS reaches you before landing with the exact meet point and terminal instructions and your flight is monitored so an early or delayed arrival needs no call from you. Brisbane Airport pickups are quoted separately from the prices above — put both directions on one reservation and both figures are confirmed upfront before you pay.
Airport Comparison for Mantra Legends Guests
| Factor | Gold Coast Airport (OOL) | Brisbane Airport (BNE) |
|---|---|---|
| Distance from the hotel | ~25 km | ~78 km |
| Typical drive time | 30–40 min | 65–85 min |
| Private sedan | approx. $90 | approx. $200 (toll included) |
| Kia Carnival | approx. $120 | approx. $260 |
| Airport to hotel | Quoted separately — access fee applies | Quoted separately — access fee applies |
| Route type | Highway or M1 south, toll-free | M1 north, Logan then Gateway Motorway, toll inside the quote |
| Best for | Domestic east-coast flights, New Zealand, some international | Broader international network, more airline choice |
| Airport arrival before departure | 2 hrs domestic / 3 hrs international | 2 hrs domestic / 3 hrs international, plus drive |
Gold Coast Airport wins comfortably — roughly half the drive time and $105 less in a sedan, widening to. For a conference organiser moving twenty delegates the airport choice is a material line item rather than a detail. Brisbane earns the extra only when the airline, a direct international route or a materially better connection makes the case. Route detail for each sits on the Gold Coast Airport route hub and the Brisbane Airport route hub.
Fleet, Luggage and Pricing
Pricing is per vehicle, not per person. Slide or tap to compare capacity and both airport prices.
| Vehicle | Capacity | Luggage | To Gold Coast Airport (OOL) | To Brisbane Airport (BNE) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sedan or similar | 1–3 | Up to 2 large suitcases | a fixed $90 | a fixed $200 |
| 7-seat Kia Carnival | Up to 7 | Up to 6 large suitcases | a fixed $120 | a fixed $260 |
Need more than 7 seats? The 12-seat VW Transporter carries 8–11 passengers and up to 8 check-in suitcases plus 4 carry-on — quoted on request: call or message 0416 131 285 with your passenger count.
Every price includes GST and Brisbane runs include the Gateway toll. These are hotel-to-airport figures; airport pickups are quoted separately because inbound legs carry an airport access fee. Parties larger than 11 travel as multi-vehicle bookings on one reservation. An after-hours fee applies to pickups between 9pm and 6am; the prices shown assume standard-rate hours of 6am to 9pm.
Child seats
Queensland’s child restraint rules carry an exemption for booked hire and taxi services, so a seat is not mandatory in our vehicles — but we provide and fit them anyway at $35 per seat, itemised inside your locked quote. Rear-facing seats, forward-facing seats and boosters are all available, fitted and safety-checked before pickup, with up to 5 seats in the Kia Carnival. Full detail on our child seats page.
Boards, prams and oversized items
Prams travel on every vehicle. Surfboards, bike boxes, golf bags and anything oversized go in the Carnival or Transporter — the Carnival takes up to three boards in one or two bags alongside passengers and luggage. Mention it at booking so the right vehicle arrives.
Conference and function departures
The hotel runs meeting and function space and that produces a transfer pattern the apartment towers don’t: a block of delegates or guests leaving across a single morning, onto a dozen different flights, most heading to OOL but some to Brisbane.
Multi-vehicle bookings run on one reservation with each vehicle timed to its own flight, so nobody sits at the terminal for three hours and nobody misses a departure. Send the flight list and headcounts and we’ll build the schedule out — you get one reservation and one point of contact rather than fifteen separate bookings to reconcile.
Corporate accounts are available by prior approval, with itemised receipts suited to expense reconciliation. For an organiser billing transfers back to an event budget, that’s usually the deciding factor. Our corporate airport transfers page covers the arrangement.
Weddings and celebrations
The precinct position makes this a common base for wedding parties and milestone celebrations, which produce the same departure pattern — a group leaving across one morning on separate flights, often with a few heading interstate and one or two internationally. Same approach: one reservation, each vehicle timed individually.
Private Transfer vs Rideshare, Taxi and Tram
| Option | To OOL | To BNE | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| CGC private transfer | approx. $90 sedan | approx. $200 sedan | Price locked at booking, correct driveway on the booking, group departures timed flight by flight |
| Rideshare | Dynamic pricing | Dynamic — long run, surge exposure | Plenty of cars, but the app’s pin drop lands at the mall or on a street the driver can’t stop on |
| Taxi | Metered | Metered plus tolls | Ranks are nearby, but the meter runs through the afternoon highway crawl |
| Tram and bus | Tram south, then a bus connection | Tram north to Helensvale, then Airtrain | The tram is genuinely close here — viable travelling light, slow with luggage |
The pin-drop problem at a mall address
Rideshare availability in Surfers is the best on the coast, so this isn’t about waiting for a car. It’s about where the car is told to go. At a hotel fronting a pedestrian mall, the app’s default pickup point is frequently the mall itself or a street where stopping isn’t possible and in a one-way grid the driver can’t just loop around to correct it. What follows is a phone call, a walk with luggage and a cancellation.
A pre-booked transfer has the driveway written into the booking, so the vehicle goes to a place it can actually stop and the front desk knows to expect it.
An honest note on the tram
The tram is closer to this hotel than to almost any other property in these guides and for a guest travelling with a cabin bag and no deadline, the Helensvale-to-Brisbane Airtrain connection is a legitimate option. Where it stops working is a check-in bag, an early departure before services start, an evening arrival and a group. Worth knowing rather than pretending otherwise.
Practical Tips for Your Stay
Ask the front desk which driveway
Thirty seconds at check-in saves confusion on departure morning, particularly if you’ve been coming and going through the mall all week. The pickup point is named in your SMS as well, so it’s on the record either way.
Give us the flight number
Pickups are calculated backwards from your flight — 2 hours before a domestic departure, 3 before an international, plus the drive and the precinct allowance. Working from check-out instead puts you at the terminal either far too early or too tight.
Check-out and luggage storage
Check-out is typically mid-morning; confirm the current time with the hotel. If your flight is later, ask the front desk about luggage storage — a final walk on the beach beats waiting in the lobby with your bags.
Very early departures
Pre-dawn runs are the clearest of the day on both routes and the precinct is quiet at that hour. Worth confirming with the hotel how the front desk and lifts operate before 6am if you’re on a dawn flight.
Event weekends
Surfers hosts frequent road-affecting events with street closures around the precinct. Dates and affected streets change year to year — check with the event organiser or the City of Gold Coast for current detail. On our side the drivers know the diversions and if you flag an event at booking the margin gets widened.
Accessibility
For accessible room configurations, lift access and pool facilities, contact the hotel directly — they hold the accurate current detail. Our vehicles are standard sedans, people movers and a Transporter; raise any particular access requirements for the transfer itself at booking so we can confirm what we can accommodate before you commit.
Booking for guests arriving
Common for conference organisers and wedding hosts. Give us the flight and the arriving passenger’s mobile and the SMS with the meet point goes to them directly. Meet and greet is included on Gold Coast Airport arrivals, which helps anyone landing here for the first time.
How to Book
- Book online — select your airport and terminal, date, flight number and vehicle, with Mantra Legends Hotel as the pickup address.
- Add your room number and any extras — child seats, boards, prams, oversized luggage or a second stop.
- For a group, send the flight list — headcounts and flight numbers and we’ll build a multi-vehicle schedule on one reservation.
- Add the arrival leg if you need it — quoted separately, confirmed alongside your departure price before you pay.
- Pay by card at booking — the price is locked then. No in-car payment. Corporate accounts by prior approval.
- Get your confirmation — plus an SMS the night before naming the driveway, the driver and the vehicle registration.
Your quote is the fare. No surge, no metered fare, no fuel levy — a higher rate applies on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday only.
Mantra Legends Hotel Transfer FAQs
What does a transfer from Mantra Legends to Gold Coast Airport cost?
Around $90 in a sedan for 1–3 passengers, $120 in a Kia Carnival for up to 7. GST is inside the price and the figure is locked when you book.
What does a transfer to Brisbane Airport cost?
Around $200 in a sedan, $260 in a Kia Carnival. The Gateway Motorway toll and GST are both inside the quoted price.
Where exactly does the driver collect me?
At the hotel’s vehicle driveway, coordinated with the front desk — not the Cavill Avenue mall frontage, which is a pedestrian zone no car can enter. Your SMS the night before names the driveway along with the driver’s name and vehicle registration. If you’ve been using the mall entrance all week, ask the front desk at check-in which side vehicles use.
Can the car pick me up on Cavill Avenue?
No — the mall is closed to traffic. It’s the most common point of confusion at this address, because the entrance most guests use on foot isn’t a side a vehicle can reach. The pickup point is written on your booking and named in your confirmation SMS, so there’s nothing to work out on the morning.
Which airport should I use from Surfers Paradise?
Gold Coast Airport, comfortably. It’s roughly half the drive time and $105 less in a sedan, widening to. For a group of twenty that difference becomes a real line item. Brisbane earns the extra only when the airline, a direct international route or a materially better connection makes the case.
How long are the drives to each airport?
Gold Coast Airport is typically 30–40 minutes across the 25 km, though weekday afternoons between about 3pm and 6pm can stretch it closer to 50. Brisbane Airport is typically 65–85 minutes across the 78 km via the M1, Logan and Gateway motorways. Your fixed price doesn’t change either way.
Can you move a conference group leaving on different flights?
Yes and it’s the most common group booking we handle from a hotel like this. Multi-vehicle bookings run on one reservation with each vehicle timed to its own flight, so nobody sits at the terminal for three hours and nobody misses a departure. Send the flight list and headcounts and we’ll build the schedule out — one reservation and one point of contact rather than fifteen bookings to reconcile.
Do you offer corporate accounts for event transfers?
Yes, by prior approval, with itemised receipts suited to expense reconciliation. For an organiser billing transfers back to an event budget it’s usually the deciding factor. See our corporate airport transfers page for the arrangement.
What size vehicle do I need?
More often a sedan here than at the apartment properties nearby. Hotel guests tend to travel lighter — a two or three-night stay with cabin bags rather than a week of self-catering with five suitcases. A sedan takes two large cases and three passengers. Beyond that and with boards or a pram, it’s a Carnival.
What time will I be collected for my flight?
We aim to have you at the airport 2 hours before a domestic departure and 3 hours before an international one. The pickup time is that lead plus the drive and an allowance for the precinct. Give us the flight number at booking and we work the time back from it rather than from your check-out time.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Nothing you need to manage. Flights are monitored on every airport pickup and the driver adjusts to your actual landing time. Waiting is not charged — the grace period runs around 30–45 minutes on domestic arrivals and 45 minutes to an hour on international.
Why are airport pickups priced separately?
Collecting a passenger at an airport carries an airport access fee, which the outbound direction does not attract. Rather than average it across both legs, we quote each direction on its own so you see exactly what you are paying. Book both legs on one reservation and both figures are confirmed upfront.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes. Booked hire and taxi services are exempt from Queensland’s child restraint requirements, so a seat is not mandatory in our vehicles — but we provide and fit them anyway, at $35 per seat itemised in your locked quote. Rear-facing seats, forward-facing seats and boosters are all available, fitted and safety-checked before pickup, with up to 5 seats in the Kia Carnival.
How much luggage can each vehicle take?
Two large suitcases plus carry-on in the sedan, up to six in the Kia Carnival, up to ten in the 12-seater Transporter. Boards, prams, bike boxes and oversized items travel in the Carnival or Transporter.
Is rideshare reliable here?
Availability isn’t the issue — Surfers has the densest coverage on the coast. The problem at a mall-fronting hotel is where the app sends the car: frequently the mall itself or a street where stopping isn’t possible and in a one-way grid the driver can’t loop around to fix it. What follows is a phone call, a walk with luggage and a cancellation. A pre-booked transfer has the driveway written into the booking.
Can I get to the airport on the tram?
The tram is closer to this hotel than to almost any property we cover and for Brisbane the tram to Helensvale connects directly to the Airtrain. Travelling with a cabin bag and no deadline, it’s a legitimate option. It stops working with a check-in bag, an early departure before services start, an evening arrival and a group.
Do event road closures affect my transfer?
They affect the route, not the price. Surfers hosts frequent road-affecting events with street closures around the precinct and our drivers work the diversions regularly. If you know something’s on that weekend, mention it at booking and the margin gets widened. Dates and affected streets change year to year — check with the organiser or the City of Gold Coast for current detail.
Can I book a very early or late pickup?
Yes, by pre-booking. Pickups between 9pm and 6am carry an after-hours fee and the prices shown here assume standard hours of 6am to 9pm. Your total is confirmed upfront. Pre-dawn runs are the clearest of the day on both routes and the precinct is quiet.
Can I book a transfer for guests arriving to the hotel?
Yes and it’s common for conference organisers and wedding hosts. Give us the flight and the arriving passenger’s mobile and the SMS with the meet point goes to them directly. Meet and greet is included on Gold Coast Airport arrivals.
How is payment handled and can I book both legs together?
By card online when you book, which is the point the price is locked — nothing is paid in the vehicle and corporate accounts are available by prior approval. Booking both legs on one reservation is simpler: both prices are confirmed upfront, with the airport-to-hotel leg quoted separately because it carries the airport access fee.
What are the cancellation terms?
More than 24 hours before pickup, a full credit applies. Within 24 hours, no credit. If your airline cancels the flight: full credit with over 4 hours’ notice, 50% between 1.5 and 4 hours, none inside 1.5 hours. Credits are non-refundable. The complete terms are on our About Us page.
Do you cover other Surfers Paradise properties?
Yes — every hotel, resort and apartment tower in Surfers Paradise, Main Beach, Broadbeach and across the Gold Coast. Our hotel transfer guides index the properties with dedicated pages and the rest are bookable the same way.
