Fingal Head to Gold Coast Airport private cross-border door-to-door transfer service — CGC 7-seat Kia Carnival

Route: Fingal Head (NSW) → Gold Coast Airport (OOL, Coolangatta QLD) — the beachside village at the mouth of the Tweed, cross-border NSW-to-QLD

Distance: Approximately 11km via Fingal Road, Chinderah and Tweed Heads, north across the NSW-QLD state line into Coolangatta

Drive time: Around 15 minutes off-peak (20 to 25 minutes weekday peak)

Fixed pricing: $65 Sedan or similar / $95 Kia Carnival — GST included, no tolls on this route, based on standard rates (6am–9pm). Final quote locked at booking; after-hours, Easter Sunday and optional extras may incur additional charges (closed on Christmas Day)

Service: Driver confirmed by SMS ahead of pickup, village and beachside collection across Fingal Head, NSW-fitted child seats for under-7s and the return pickup at OOL — arrivals-hall meet and greet included — on the same reservation. Book both legs on one reservation and a 5% discount applies to the return leg.

Fingal Head sits at the end of its own road — a one-way-in beachside village on the peninsula between the Tweed River and the Pacific, with the historic lighthouse on the headland, Dreamtime Beach below it and the hexagonal basalt columns of the causeway stepping out toward Cook Island. It is about as far from the airport bustle as a suburb can feel, yet the terminal is roughly 11km and 15 minutes away through Tweed Heads. The border adds the one catch worth knowing: Fingal keeps NSW daylight saving through summer while your flight runs on Queensland time, so CGC confirms every pickup against the airport’s clock — the hour difference has caught plenty of travellers and it never catches ours.

Door-to-door from every Fingal Head address: the village streets off Fingal Road, Lighthouse Parade toward the headland, Letitia Road running north toward the river mouth, and the holiday rentals scattered through the village — keysafe codes and landmarks captured at booking.

Fingal Head to Gold Coast Airport Transfer Overview

CGC Airport Transfers provides pre-booked cross-border Gold Coast Airport transfers from the Fingal Head village, Lighthouse Parade, Letitia Road and the surrounding beachside streets.

The route is approximately 11 kilometres — out along Fingal Road past the sugar-cane flats to Chinderah, then north through Tweed Heads and across the QLD–NSW state line into Coolangatta, arriving at the terminal on Eastern Avenue. Off-peak the run takes around 15 minutes; weekday peak stretches it to 20 to 25 minutes. There are no tolls on this route and the state-line crossing is routine under Queensland Booked Hire arrangements.

“Fingal is one of my shortest NSW runs — a beachside pickup at the end of Fingal Road, across the border, and kerbside at the terminal in about a quarter of an hour. The only thing I double-check is the clock in summer, because the village runs an hour ahead of the airport.”
— Chris, owner-driver

CGC Pricing — Fingal Head to Gold Coast Airport

Direction	Sedan or similar	Kia Carnival
Fingal Head → Gold Coast Airport (drop-off)	$65	$95
Gold Coast Airport → Fingal Head (pickup, incl. meet & greet)	$80	$110
Fingal Head → Brisbane Airport (Tweed & Surrounds zone)	$240	$320

All fares are per vehicle, GST included, locked at booking. The OOL pickup leg prices higher than the drop-off because it carries the airport access fee and the in-terminal arrivals-hall meet and greet. Baby seats and child seats are $35 per seat. Book both legs on one reservation and 5% comes off the return leg.

Route, Distance and Drive Time

Fingal Road is the only way in and out — west past the village school and the cane paddocks to the Chinderah roundabouts, then the run tracks north on Wharf Street through Tweed Heads and over the state line at Coolangatta. The airport entrance sits just beyond the border. Approximately 11km door-to-terminal, around 15 minutes off-peak and 20 to 25 minutes in the weekday school-and-commuter peak. Pre-dawn airport runs are quicker still — the road is empty and the border crossing is seamless.

What Time Should I Leave Fingal Head for a Gold Coast Airport Flight?

Be at the terminal 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one, then add the drive — about 15 minutes from Fingal Head off-peak. All pickup times are Queensland time, the airport’s clock; during NSW daylight saving (October to April), add an hour to read the same time on a Fingal Head clock.

Flight (QLD time)	Type	Pickup (QLD time)	Pickup on an NSW clock in daylight saving
6:00am	Domestic	≈ 3:45am	≈ 4:45am
9:00am	Domestic	≈ 6:45am	≈ 7:45am
7:00am	International	≈ 3:45am	≈ 4:45am
1:00pm	International	≈ 9:45am	≈ 10:45am

Allow an extra 10 minutes in the weekday peak, when the run stretches to 20 to 25 minutes. Your exact pickup time is confirmed in Queensland time in the night-before SMS.

⏱ Daylight Saving — the Cross-Border Time Gap

From October to April, NSW observes daylight saving and Queensland does not — so Fingal Head runs an hour ahead of the airport all summer. Flights are scheduled on Queensland time. CGC quotes and confirms every pickup in Queensland time, the airport’s clock, so the hour gap never costs anyone a flight. If you are working out your own pickup time in summer, remember the terminal is an hour behind your kitchen clock.

Cross-Border NSW-to-QLD Crossing

The state line runs through Coolangatta–Tweed Heads and the airport runway itself crosses it. CGC operates under Queensland Booked Hire arrangements administered by Queensland Transport and Main Roads, with cross-border work to the Tweed Coast part of the licence — one car, one driver, no changeover at the border. NSW road rules apply on the Fingal side, including NSW child-restraint requirements, and those seats stay fitted for the whole trip.

NSW Baby & Child Seats — 7 and Under

NSW law requires an approved, age-appropriate restraint for every child under 7, with no booked-hire exemption (unlike Queensland), and the rules apply from the moment the car leaves a Fingal Head driveway. CGC provides and fits rear-facing baby seats, forward-facing child seats and boosters at $35 per seat, added to the quote and confirmed at booking. See the NSW Government’s child car seat guidance at transport.nsw.gov.au for the age-by-age requirements.

Fingal Head to OOL vs Fingal Head to BNE

Gold Coast Airport is the default: 11km, 15 minutes, $65 fixed. It covers the domestic east-coast network plus short-haul international to New Zealand, Bali, Fiji and Singapore. Brisbane Airport is the long-haul gateway — around 130km and roughly 100 minutes north on the M1, a fixed $240 Sedan or $320 Carnival through the Tweed & Surrounds zone with the Gateway toll included. If both airports serve your destination, the OOL option saves around two hours of car time on the round trip.

Those international links are growing fast: Gold Coast Airport’s international passenger numbers rose 25% year on year in FY26, boosted by new services including Jetstar’s Bali route, and Fiji Airways’ direct Nadi service launched in June 2026, according to Gold Coast Airport’s newsroom.

Fingal Head: the Lighthouse Village at the Mouth of the Tweed

Fingal Head is the Tweed Coast’s quietest corner — a single-road village wrapped by national-park bush, the river and the ocean, with the 19th-century lighthouse above Dreamtime Beach and the basalt causeway pointing at Cook Island’s marine reserve. It draws surfers, fishing crews and families who want the end-of-the-road feel, and its holiday rentals turn over year-round. The airport reality is the pleasant surprise: for all the seclusion, OOL is 15 minutes away — closer than most of the Gold Coast’s own suburbs — and the fixed $65 fare makes it one of the cheapest NSW zones on the CGC schedule.

FAQs

How much does Fingal Head to Gold Coast Airport cost?

A fixed $65 Sedan or similar, $95 Kia Carnival for the roughly 11km cross-border run — GST included, with no tolls on this route and the final quote locked at booking. After-hours, Easter Sunday and optional extras may incur additional charges (closed on Christmas Day). Per vehicle, not per passenger.

How much is a pickup from Gold Coast Airport back to Fingal Head?

Pickups from OOL to Fingal Head are $80 Sedan or $110 Kia Carnival. The pickup leg prices slightly higher than the drop-off because it includes the airport access fee and the in-terminal arrivals-hall meet and greet — the driver waits inside with a name board, not on the kerb.

How long does the drive from Fingal Head to Gold Coast Airport take?

Around 15 minutes off-peak and about 20 to 25 minutes in weekday peak, for roughly 11km — out along Fingal Road to Chinderah, north through Tweed Heads and across the NSW–QLD state line into Coolangatta. Fingal Head is one of the shortest NSW runs to OOL.

Do you pick up from anywhere in Fingal Head?

Yes — door-to-door from every Fingal Head address: the village streets off Fingal Road, Lighthouse Parade toward the headland, Letitia Road toward the river mouth, and the holiday rentals through the village. Keysafe-code and landmark details are captured at booking so the driver arrives at the right door first time.

How does the cross-border NSW-to-QLD trip work?

Routinely. CGC operates under Queensland Booked Hire arrangements that cover cross-border work to the Tweed Coast, and the state line sits at Tweed Heads–Coolangatta — the airport runway itself crosses it. No paperwork, no changeover: one car, one driver, door to door.

What about the daylight saving time difference?

From October to April, Fingal Head (NSW) runs an hour ahead of the airport (QLD). Flights operate on Queensland time, so CGC confirms every pickup in Queensland time too — the hour gap catches plenty of travellers each summer, and it never catches ours.

Do you provide child seats for the trip?

Yes — baby seats and child seats are $35 per seat, added to the quote. NSW child-restraint rules apply to every child under 7 — with no booked-hire exemption, unlike Queensland — and stay in force across the border: rear-facing, forward-facing or booster as age-appropriate, provided and fitted before pickup.

Can I book an early-morning pickup for a 6am flight?

Yes — pre-dawn pickups are routine. The driver is allocated the night before with an SMS confirmation, and the quiet run means Fingal Head to the terminal rarely needs more than 20 minutes even with a buffer. Pre-booked after-hours pickups outside standard 6am–9pm hours are available, with any fee confirmed inside the locked quote.

Can I bring surfboards?

Yes — the Kia Carnival accommodates up to 3 boards in 1–2 board bags plus standard luggage. The Sedan doesn’t carry boards, so a Carnival is allocated for any board manifest. Fingal Head surf trips to Bali and Fiji via OOL’s international connections are routine bookings.

How much luggage fits in each vehicle?

The Sedan or similar takes 1–3 passengers with 2 check-in and 2 carry-on bags. The Kia Carnival seats up to 7 passengers with 6 large bags, or takes up to 9 large bags with four or fewer passengers — the same fixed fare either way. For bigger groups or luggage loads, a 12-seat VW Crafter (up to 11 passengers) is priced in the booking form.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel more than 24 hours before pickup and the full amount is held as credit toward a future booking. Cancellations within 24 hours of pickup are not credited. There are no change fees for moving a booking outside the 24-hour window.

Is there a discount for booking the return trip?

Yes — book both legs on one reservation and 5% comes off the return leg. The return pickup at OOL includes the arrivals-hall meet and greet and automatic flight monitoring, so a delayed flight moves the pickup without a phone call.

How do I pay?

Online at booking — the quote is locked when you confirm, with GST included. No in-car payment, no meter, no surge.

Why use CGC instead of a taxi or rideshare from Fingal Head?

Fixed price locked at booking against a metered or surging fare, a pre-booked driver who has your exact address, landmark and keysafe details rather than a pin drop on Fingal Road, in-terminal meet and greet on returns, and no availability gamble at the end of the road — rideshare cars rarely wait around the village.

Do you also do Fingal Head to Brisbane Airport?

Yes — Fingal Head to Brisbane Airport is a fixed $240 Sedan or $320 Kia Carnival through the Tweed & Surrounds zone, Gateway toll and GST included. It’s around 130km, roughly 100 minutes.

What if there are 7 of us?

The Kia Carnival carries 7 passengers with 6 large bags at the same fixed fare. If you need more room than that, the 12-seat VW Crafter (up to 11 passengers) is priced in the booking form.

What happens if my arrival flight is delayed?

Every booking carries automatic flight monitoring. The pickup adjusts to the actual landing time, and waiting is included for 1 hour after a domestic landing and 90 minutes after an international one, from actual landing — $2 a minute after that. The driver is in the arrivals hall with a name sign when you walk out.

Do you cover Chinderah, Kingscliff and the neighbouring areas too?

Yes — Chinderah and the neighbouring Tweed suburbs each price on their own fixed zones, and Kingscliff, Casuarina and Salt Village have a dedicated zone as well. Fingal Head itself shares the Banora Point fixed fares — the cheapest NSW zone after the immediate border suburbs.

Why is Fingal Head cheaper to OOL than Kingscliff?

Distance. Fingal Head sits just south of the Tweed River mouth, about 11km from the terminal through Tweed Heads, while Kingscliff is further down the coast. The fixed zones follow the road distance, so Fingal Head prices with Banora Point rather than with the Tweed Coast beach towns to the south.

What time should I leave Fingal Head for a 6am flight?

For a 6am domestic flight from Gold Coast Airport, a pickup around 3:45am Queensland time — 4:45am on a Fingal Head clock during NSW daylight saving. That is the 15-minute drive plus the 2-hour domestic buffer; international flights need 3 hours at the terminal, so a 7am international is also a 3:45am pickup.

Is there an extra charge for crossing the border?

No. The fixed $65 sedan or $95 Kia Carnival covers the whole cross-border run to Gold Coast Airport, with no tolls on this route and no state-line charge. Pickups from the airport back to Fingal Head are $80 / $110 because they include the airport access fee and the in-terminal meet and greet.

The driver (Sharron) notified me of her arrival - which was early - but really suited me; although, please don't think that she was pressuring me as she was prepared to wait. Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. How good is this service! Huge storm no visability but no issues. Big delay and went another way and delivered me to the airport ahead of schedule. Perhaps they could manage the aircraft as it was a steep downhill after this terrific service

Owner's reply
Thanks so much for the awesome review! That storm was abit Nuts, so I’m glad we still got you to the airport nice and early. Gotta say, we loved the aircraft joke too!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently travelled from Adelaide to Gold Coast for a short holiday to celebrate my mum's 60th and as a big family reunion. Chris, the proprietor and manager of CGC Transfers, initially our Uber driver, had picked us up from the airport and has provided us with the friendliest and most accommodating private transport experience. After Chris had informed us of his Private Transport business, I asked for a quote on the spot based on our itinerary and he was quick to provide with no hidden costs or issues. The price was fair given the high demands of the season and it comes with excellent communication and service from your own private driver. Highly recommend to book CGC Transfers particularly if you're in larger groups of 5-8 plus luggage. Thanks again Chris, hope to have you look after us again in the future.

Zaf was on time, car was great and a very pleasant trip. Also cheaper than a Taxi.
