Banora Point to Gold Coast Airport
The Short Answer
Banora Point to Gold Coast Airport is a fixed $65 Sedan or similar, or $95 for the 7-seat Kia Carnival — per vehicle, GST included with no tolls on the OOL run, locked at booking. The run is about 8 km, around 12 minutes off-peak. Door-to-door with flight monitoring, and booking both legs on one reservation takes 5% off the return leg.
Pickups from Gold Coast Airport back to Banora Point are priced separately — $80 sedan, $110 Kia Carnival — as they include the airport access fee and the in-terminal meet and greet.
Route: Banora Point (NSW) → Gold Coast Airport (OOL, Coolangatta QLD) — the largest NSW Tweed Coast beach town, cross-border NSW-to-QLD
Distance: Approximately 8km via Tweed Coast Road and the Pacific Motorway north across the NSW-QLD state line into Coolangatta
Drive time: Around 12 minutes off-peak (28 to 32 minutes weekday peak)
Fixed pricing: $65 Sedan or similar / $95 Kia Carnival — GST included, no tolls on this route, based on standard rates (6am–9pm). Final quote locked at booking; after-hours, Christmas Day, Easter Sunday and optional extras may incur additional charges
Service: Driver confirmed by SMS ahead of pickup, hillside and golf-side collection across Banora Point, NSW-fitted child seats for under-7s and the return pickup at OOL — arrivals-hall meet and greet included — on the same reservation. Book both legs on one reservation and a 5% discount applies to the return leg.
Banora Point rises over the Tweed on the New South Wales side of the line — family streets wrapped around Club Banora’s greens, with the river below and the airport just minutes away through Chinderah. It’s one of the shortest airport runs anywhere in the region, but the border adds the one catch worth knowing: Banora keeps NSW daylight saving through summer while your flight runs on Queensland time, so CGC confirms every pickup against the airport’s clock — the hour difference has caught plenty of travellers and it never catches ours.
Door-to-door from every Banora Point address: the hilltop estates off Darlington Drive and Leisure Drive, the Club Banora golf-side streets, the Terranora Broadwater waterfront pockets, Terranora and Bilambil Heights next door, Tweed Heads South, Chinderah on the Pacific Motorway side and the Terranora Broadwater waterfront, plus the Tweed Heads South and Terranora borders across the 2486 postcode.
Gold Coast Airport handles the domestic east-coast network plus short-haul international to New Zealand, Bali, Fiji and Singapore. CGC bookings carry no surge across holiday weekends, Tweed Coast surf-trip peaks, Schoolies week or summer holiday flow. For the full international long-haul network, the longer Brisbane Airport (BNE) run at around 115km is the alternative.

⏱ Daylight Saving — the Cross-Border Time Gap
Banora Point is in NSW, which observes daylight saving from early October to early April; Queensland and Gold Coast Airport do not. For that half of the year, NSW clocks run one hour ahead of the airport, so the terminal is an hour behind your Banora Point local time — worth watching on an already-short cross-border run.
To keep it simple, all pickup times we quote are in Banora Point (NSW) local time and your driver works to the same clock. Flight times shown on your OOL itinerary are in Queensland time. We confirm both against your flight at booking so there’s no cross-border confusion — but always sanity-check that your alarm is set to NSW time, not the airport’s.
Suggested Pickup Times
Off-peak conditions assumed, times in Banora Point (NSW) local time. Pickups before 6am or after 9pm are available by pre-booking and may attract an after-hours surcharge, confirmed in your online quote.
| Flight time (QLD) | Type | Banora Point pickup (NSW) | OOL arrival |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6:00am | Domestic | ≈ 4:40am | ≈ 6:00am |
| 8:00am | Domestic | ≈ 6:40am | ≈ 7:00am |
| 10:00am | Domestic | ≈ 8:40am | ≈ 9:00am |
| 1:00pm | Domestic | ≈ 11:40am | ≈ 12:00pm |
| 9:00am | International | ≈ 6:40am | ≈ 7:00am |
| 10:00am | International | ≈ 7:40am | ≈ 8:00am |
| 2:00pm | International | ≈ 11:40am | ≈ 12:00pm |
Times shown assume standard (non-daylight-saving) alignment. During NSW daylight saving (Oct–Apr) we confirm the exact pickup against your flight so the cross-border hour is accounted for. For the full framework see our how early to leave for Gold Coast Airport guide.
Cross-Border NSW-to-QLD Crossing
The Banora Point-to-OOL run crosses the NSW-QLD state line at the Tweed Heads-Coolangatta border and that crossing is part of every Banora Point run — routine under Queensland Booked Hire arrangements administered by Queensland Transport and Main Roads. The OOL runway itself crosses the border at Coolangatta-Bilinga, which makes the Tweed Coast one of the most naturally airport-paired regions on the east coast. NSW child restraints are fitted on the NSW pickup side and stay in place across the short Queensland leg into the terminal.
Club Banora & Hilltop Estate Pickup
Banora Point’s daily pattern runs through Club Banora’s golf and leisure precinct and the hilltop estates off Darlington Drive and Leisure Drive. Pickups are door-to-door across the estate loops and cul-de-sacs, with the street and estate captured at booking so the car reaches the right driveway first time — including the pre-dawn departures where the hilltop streets are quiet and dark.
NSW Child Seats — 7 and Under
New South Wales road rules require children under 7 to travel in an approved restraint suited to their age and size and there is no exemption for hire vehicles. CGC provides and fits Australian-Standards restraints on request:
- Birth to 6 months — approved rear-facing capsule
- 6 months to 4 years — rear-facing or forward-facing seat with an inbuilt harness
- 4 to 7 years — forward-facing seat with an inbuilt harness and an approved booster
Provide each child’s age and approximate size at booking so the correct seat is fitted before pickup and stays in place across the border; an additional child seat cost applies, added to your quote. Multi-child configurations are handled in the 7-seat Kia Carnival. See Transport for NSW — child car seats for the full framework.
Banora Point to OOL vs Banora Point to BNE
| Factor | Banora Point → OOL | Banora Point → BNE |

| Distance | ≈ 8km | ≈ 115 km |
| Drive time (off-peak) | ≈ 12 minutes | ~1h 40min |

| Sedan price | a fixed $65 | higher (longer run) |
| Tolls | None on this route | Gateway Motorway toll (BNE run) |
Gold Coast Airport is functionally the local airport for Banora Point — about 8km across the border versus around 115km to Brisbane. OOL handles domestic east-coast plus short-haul international to New Zealand, Bali, Fiji and Singapore. For the full international long-haul widebody network OOL doesn’t operate, the longer Brisbane Airport (BNE) run is the alternative.

Banora Point: Largest NSW Tweed Coast Beach Town with the Quick Cross-Border Run to OOL
Banora Point occupies the largest beach-town footprint on the NSW Tweed Coast, bounded by Tweed Heads South and Tweed Heads to the north across the Tweed River mouth, Terranora to the south, the Pacific Motorway to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east. The suburb anchors the Tweed Coast tourism economy with Darlington Drive and Leisure Drive as the residential spine, Club Banora as the golf-and-leisure heart, the Terranora Broadwater as the western waterfront extension, Tweed Heads South as the inland rural-residential, Chinderah as the motorway-side residential and Terranora as the southern border.
Gold Coast Airport sits just 8km north across the QLD-NSW border at Coolangatta-Bilinga, where the runway itself crosses the state line and the route is a clean Pacific Motorway corridor with no toll. That makes OOL functionally the local airport for Banora Point — the drive time is dominated by the airport buffer, not the road — while Brisbane Airport at around 115km is reserved for the international long-haul network OOL doesn’t operate.
The beach-town-and-resort pickup pattern shapes the suburb’s operations. Club Banora anchors the golf-and-leisure precinct; the hillage beachfront cul-de-sacs along Darlington Drive have limited turnaround space; Terranora Road beachfront and Terranora Road rural-residential include unmarked driveways in the pre-dawn dark; and the Chinderah holiday rentals run on keysafe-code arrangements — all captured cleanly on the booking. Across holiday weekends, Tweed Coast surf-trip peaks, Schoolies week and the summer holiday peak, CGC bookings hold the standard rate with no surge.
Fleet Available From Banora Point
Two core vehicles handle the majority of Banora Point to Gold Coast Airport bookings — the Sedan or similar for 1–3 passengers (village and Club Banora precinct resort couples, executive solo business, no boards) and the board-carrying 7-seat Kia Carnival for families with fitted NSW child seats, multi-suitcase Bali/Fiji/Auckland international manifests and Tweed Coast surf-trip departures. For groups of 8–11, the 12-seater Transporter handles Club Banora precinct destination-wedding parties, multi-family surf-trip departures and corporate groups.
| Vehicle | Capacity | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sedan or similar | 1–3 passengers | 2 large cases + 2 carry-on | Village and Club Banora precinct resort couples, executive solo business, no boards |
| 7-seat Kia Carnival | Up to 7 passengers | Up to 6 large cases | Families with fitted NSW child seats, multi-suitcase Bali/Fiji/Auckland international manifests and Tweed Coast surf-trip departures |
| 12-seat VW Transporter (quoted on request) | 8–11 passengers | Up to 10 large cases | Club Banora precinct destination-wedding parties, multi-family surf-trip departures and corporate groups |
Real Scenario: Club Banora Family to OOL Domestic — 10am Flight to Melbourne
A family of four — two parents, a 7-year-old and a 5-year-old — is leaving a golf-side home near Club Banora for a Saturday 10am domestic service from Gold Coast Airport to Melbourne, with two suitcases and two fitted child seats required under NSW rules.
The booking is placed three days ahead with the street and estate noted, the flight number attached and both seats requested. Because the run is so short, the maths is friendly: an 8:50am pickup still lands the family at the terminal around 9:06am for check-in and the quoted price is locked regardless of the Saturday holiday traffic heading for the border.
CGC allocates a 7-seat Kia Carnival with the seats fitted in advance. The evening before, the driver sends an SMS confirming the 8:50am pickup, the vehicle registration and the pre-fitted seats.
On the Saturday the driver arrives at 8:48am, loads the suitcases, checks both harnesses and rolls down Sexton Hill through Chinderah to the terminal — one state line, no tolls and the airport clock (not the NSW clock) already confirmed on the booking.
CGC Private Transfer vs Rideshare
| Factor | CGC pre-booked | Rideshare |
|---|---|---|
| Cross-border NSW-to-QLD operation | ✓ Routine — licensed booked-hire crossing the state line is the core of the service | ✗ Variable depending on driver registration and app boundary |
| NSW 7-and-under child-restraint compliance | ✓ Australian-Standards seats fitted before pickup under the NSW 7-and-under framework | ✗ Not provided as standard; NSW compliance falls to the passenger |
| Club Banora precinct pickup | ✓ Concierge-coordinated pickup at the Leisure Drive main entrance | ✗ Pin drops drift to the wrong resort entrance or a generic precinct point |
| Beachfront & rural-residential access | ✓ Darlington Drive cul-de-sacs, Terranora Road beachfront and Tweed Heads South rural driveways captured with landmarks | ✗ Pin drops fail at unmarked rural and beachfront addresses pre-dawn |
| Pricing on the day | ✓ Locked at booking — no surge on holiday weekends, Schoolies or peak summer holiday | ✗ Dynamic surge on Club Banora precinct events, Schoolies, pre-dawn and school holidays |
| Pre-dawn availability | ✓ Pre-booked and rostered — pre-dawn Bali, Fiji and New Zealand departures routine | ✗ Driver pools thin in the pre-dawn Tweed Coast |
| Surfboards (Carnival) | ✓ Up to 3 boards in 1–2 bags in the 7-seat Carnival | ✗ Vehicle frequently unsuitable for board manifests |
| Child seats | ✓ Australian-Standards seats fitted under NSW law, required for children under 7 | ✗ Not provided as standard |

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Banora Point to Gold Coast Airport cost?
A fixed $65 Sedan or similar, $95 Kia Carnival for the roughly 8km cross-border run — GST included, with no tolls on this route and the final quote locked at booking. After-hours, Christmas Day, Easter Sunday and optional extras may incur additional charges. Per vehicle, not per passenger.
How long does the trip take?
Around 12 minutes off-peak via Tweed Coast Road and the Pacific Motorway north across the NSW-QLD state line at Tweed Heads-Coolangatta — about 8km. Weekday morning peak through Tweed Heads may add 8 to 12 minutes, landing at 28 to 32 minutes.
Are there any tolls on the Banora Point to Gold Coast Airport route?
No. Tweed Coast Road and the Pacific Motorway across the border to Coolangatta are toll-free, so there are no tolls on this route — the locked quote includes GST and applies to the whole run.
How does the cross-border NSW-to-QLD crossing work?
Routine — the crossing at the Tweed Heads-Coolangatta border happens within every Banora Point-to-OOL run, all licensed under Queensland Booked Hire arrangements administered by Queensland Transport and Main Roads. The Gold Coast Airport runway itself crosses the NSW-QLD state line at Coolangatta-Bilinga.
Does daylight saving affect my pickup time?
It can. Banora Point (NSW) observes daylight saving from October to April; Queensland and the airport do not, so for that half of the year the terminal runs an hour behind your Banora Point local time. We quote pickups in Banora Point (NSW) local time and confirm them against your flight at booking, but always set your alarm to NSW time, not the airport’s.
Are child seats required from Banora Point?
Yes. NSW road rules require children under 7 to travel in an approved age-appropriate Australian-Standards restraint, with no exemption for hire vehicles. CGC provides and fits rear-facing seats, forward-facing seats and boosters before pickup and they stay in place across the border. Provide ages and approximate sizes at booking; an additional child seat cost applies, added to your quote.
Can you fit surfboards from Banora Point?
Yes. The 7-seat Kia Carnival carries up to 3 boards in 1–2 bags plus standard luggage. The Sedan doesn’t carry boards, so a Carnival is needed for any board manifest — the Banora Point, Terranora, Tweed Heads South and broader Tweed Coast surf community heading on Bali and Fiji surf trips via Gold Coast Airport are routine bookings.
Why choose OOL over BNE from Banora Point?
Gold Coast Airport is functionally the local airport — about 8km and 12 minutes, versus around 115km and 1h 40min to Brisbane. OOL handles domestic east-coast plus short-haul international to New Zealand, Bali, Fiji and Singapore. Brisbane Airport is the choice for full international long-haul widebody routes. See our Banora Point to Brisbane Airport page for the BNE option.
What pickup time do I need for a 10am domestic flight?
Around 8:40am (Banora Point local time). The 8km cross-border run takes about 12 minutes off-peak, plus the 1-hour domestic buffer, landing you at Gold Coast Airport around 9:00am for check-in.
What pickup time do I need for a 10am international flight?
Around 7:40am (Banora Point local time). The 8km run takes about 12 minutes off-peak, plus the 2-hour international buffer, landing you at Gold Coast Airport around 8:00am for check-in.
Does CGC surge for Schoolies week or holiday weekends?
No. CGC does not apply surge pricing on Schoolies week in late November, holiday and event weekends, school holidays or summer holiday peak — the locked quote applies. A higher rate applies on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday only.
Can I book a return Gold Coast Airport to Banora Point transfer?
Yes. Return transfers can be booked on the same reservation. We monitor the incoming flight and meet you on arrival — you’ll receive a text confirming your transfer and where to meet your driver.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Flight tracking is included on every booking. We monitor the flight in real time and adjust the pickup automatically, at no extra charge and wait time is not charged extra.
Can I cancel or change my booking?
Yes — with more than 24 hours’ notice the fare becomes a full credit for a later transfer; no credit applies inside 24 hours. Where the airline cancels the flight, credits scale with notice: 100% beyond 4 hours, 50% from 1.5–4 hours, none under 90 minutes. Credits are non-refundable but hold their value indefinitely. Full policy on our About Us page.
Will my driver meet me inside the terminal on the return?
For Gold Coast Airport pickups, yes — arrivals-hall meet and greet is included. The driver is inside the terminal with a name sign when you land and assists with your bags to the car.
Where will my driver meet me at Gold Coast Airport?
Your driver waits inside the terminal with your name on a sign — in-terminal meet and greet is included in every Gold Coast Airport (OOL) pickup fare at no extra charge, and your SMS confirmation includes arrival instructions.
What about the time difference between Queensland and NSW?
Northern NSW runs one hour ahead of Queensland during daylight saving (early October to early April). Every CGC booking is quoted and confirmed in Queensland time, and we handle the conversion — your confirmation spells out the pickup time clearly and your driver plans around your flight, so the border never costs you a flight.
