The marathon weekend runs over two mornings. In 2026 the roads on the course closed from 3:30am, from Paradise Point in the north to Miami in the south, and reopened progressively as each event finished — all roads by 1:30pm on the Saturday and 2:30pm on the Sunday. The 2027 closure plan is published by the Gold Coast Marathon before race week; we book every pickup against it. Every trip is pre-booked, the fare is the standard figure, and both legs on one reservation take 5% off the return.

Getting Around on Race Days
The marathon course runs along the coast and the Broadwater, so on both race mornings the Gold Coast Highway and the beachfront streets are closed in sections from Paradise Point to Miami. The event’s own advice for 2026 was to come off the M1 at Nerang–Broadbeach Road for Surfers Paradise and the suburbs further south, use the western roads for north–south trips, and reach The Spit by Tedder Avenue under police direction — Seaworld Drive was fully closed until 8am on the Sunday. That is the route your driver takes while the course is closed.
For a hotel on the course itself — the Esplanade, Main Beach Parade or the Gold Coast Highway — a race-morning pickup may be from a side street until that road reopens. We check the closure plan for your street when you book and tell you where the car will be by SMS.
Running? Registered participants have travelled free on public transport to and from the race precinct in set hours, and the Southport tram station is about 300 metres from it — the simple way to the start. Book us for the airport legs, and for the trip home when your legs are done.

The Gold Coast Marathon is in its 47th year in 2027, on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 July, on a course that runs alongside the surf beaches and the Broadwater. The weekend has the ASICS Gold Coast Marathon, the half marathon, the 10km and 5km, the 2km Junior Dash, wheelchair races over the marathon, 10km and 5km, and the 63.3km Gold Coast Double for those running both days. Entries for 2027 open in early December, according to the Gold Coast Marathon.

Example Weekend: a Running Group from Melbourne
