The Short Answer

Private transfers from Reflection on the Sea are quoted individually — the terminal is only minutes away to Gold Coast Airport and a fixed $230 sedan to Brisbane Airport (about 95–120 minutes, Gateway toll included). To Gold Coast Airport (OOL): a few kilometres, usually 5–15 minutes — sedan $55

To Brisbane Airport (BNE): about 105 km, usually 95–120 minutes — sedan $230, Gateway toll included

Airport pickups: BNE the same fixed price both directions; OOL pickups $70 sedan / $100 Carnival including the access fee and meet and greet

Pickup point: the building entrance, with the apartment number on the booking

Hours: standard 5am–9pm; pickups between 9pm and 5am carry an after-hours fee confirmed inside the locked quote

Every other page in these guides spends its time explaining why Gold Coast Airport beats Brisbane. Here that argument is over before it starts. You are minutes from the OOL terminal — close enough to hear the aircraft — and roughly two hours from Brisbane. There is no comparison to make.

So this page deals with the two questions that actually apply at this address instead. First, the obvious one: why does a five-minute drive cost $55? Second and more usefully, what a departure looks like when the airport is that close — because it changes the timing, the early starts and the whole shape of your last morning.

  • ✔ A fixed $55 sedan to OOL — one of the shortest runs we do
  • ✔ A fixed $230 sedan to Brisbane, Gateway toll inside the price
  • ✔ A 5am OOL flight means a pickup around 3am, not 1:30am
  • ✔ Collection at the building entrance, apartment number on the booking
  • ✔ Flight monitored on every airport pickup, wait time not charged
  • ✔ Child seats provided and fitted, $35 per seat

About Reflection on the Sea

Reflection on the Sea is a beachfront apartment property at Coolangatta, at the southern tip of the Gold Coast where Queensland meets New South Wales. Apartments are self-contained with kitchens, laundries and separate living areas, most with ocean outlooks across the sand.

Facilities, apartment configurations and check-in arrangements vary depending on how you’ve booked — confirm the specifics with your booking provider.

Coolangatta is a quieter proposition than Surfers or Broadbeach: patrolled beaches at Greenmount and Kirra, a walkable village of cafés and pubs and a pace that suits people who’ve chosen the southern end deliberately rather than by accident. It draws repeat visitors, longer stays and a lot of families who come back to the same building year after year.

Quick answer: Reflection on the Sea is a beachfront apartment property at Coolangatta on the Queensland–New South Wales border. It is a few minutes from Gold Coast Airport and about 105 km from Brisbane Airport.

Why a five-minute drive costs $55

Fair question and better answered directly than left hanging.

$55 is our minimum fare for a sedan — the floor the pricing sits on regardless of distance. A three-kilometre run and a twenty-kilometre run to the same terminal both come out at $55, because what you’re paying for isn’t the kilometres. It’s a vehicle and a driver committed to your booking alone: allocated in advance, arriving at your building at a time worked back from your flight, with nothing else on the schedule between them and you.

That driver’s morning gets one job in that slot whether the trip is five minutes or fifty. The cost of holding it doesn’t scale down with the distance.

What you’re actually buying at this address is different from what you’d buy from Surfers. From here it isn’t distance covered, it’s certainty at an awkward hour: a car that’s there at 3am with your bags loaded and your seat already fitted, on a morning when the alternative is standing on Marine Parade hoping an app finds someone.

If it isn’t worth it, we’d rather say so. One or two people travelling light in the middle of the day have real alternatives here — the local bus reaches the terminal and a taxi over such a short distance won’t run far past a minimum fare either. Where a booked transfer earns its money is the pre-dawn flight, the family with five cases and the peak weeks when nothing else is reliable.

Reflection on the Sea to Gold Coast Airport (OOL)

Quick answer: Gold Coast Airport is a few kilometres away. A private transfer takes 5–15 minutes and costs $55 for a sedan, $85 for a Kia Carnival — GST included, price locked at booking. Brisbane pickups cost the same fixed price in the reverse direction; Gold Coast Airport pickups are $70 sedan and $100 Kia Carnival.

It’s a short, straightforward run through Coolangatta to the terminal. No motorway, no highway congestion, nothing that changes materially between a Tuesday morning and a Sunday afternoon. In practical terms this is the most predictable airport transfer on the entire coast.

What being this close actually changes

Early flights stop being brutal. A 5am departure from anywhere else on the coast means a pickup somewhere between 1:30am and 2:30am. From here it’s around 3am — you still lose sleep, but you lose an hour or so less of it and the drive is over before you’ve properly woken up.

Late arrivals are equally easy. A flight landing at 10pm has you inside your apartment within about twenty minutes of clearing the terminal, rather than facing an hour up the highway with tired children.

The margin still exists and it’s still needed. The drive being short doesn’t mean the pickup is late — the airport arrival target is unchanged at 2 hours before a domestic departure. The saving is in when your alarm goes off, not in cutting the buffer at the terminal.

The one thing to watch

Coolangatta’s local streets around the beachfront get busy during summer weekends, school holidays and surf events and Marine Parade is a working beachfront road rather than a thoroughfare. It adds minutes rather than tens of minutes, but it’s the only variable on this route.

Reflection on the Sea to Brisbane Airport (BNE)

Quick answer: Brisbane Airport is about 105 km north. A private transfer takes 95–120 minutes in normal traffic and costs $230 for a sedan, $300 for a Kia Carnival — Gateway Motorway toll and GST included, price locked at booking. Brisbane pickups cost the same fixed price in the reverse direction; Gold Coast Airport pickups are $70 sedan and $100 Kia Carnival.

This is the longest run in our hotel guides and the price reflects it honestly — you’re crossing the entire Gold Coast before you even reach the Brisbane approaches. The route joins the M1 and runs north to the Logan Motorway and then the Gateway Motorway for either terminal. Brisbane’s Domestic and International terminals are separate buildings several minutes apart, so specify which one at booking. The Gateway toll sits inside your quoted price.

Before you book a Brisbane flight from here

Worth doing the sum properly, because from this address it’s the biggest single variable in the trip.

A sedan to Brisbane is $175 more than the same vehicle to OOL and roughly an hour and three-quarters more driving each way. For a family in a Carnival the gap is $215. For a group in a Transporter quoted on request. Across a return trip the Transporter legs are quoted on request, plus the better part of four hours in a car.

Sometimes Brisbane is genuinely the only option — a direct international route, an airline that doesn’t serve OOL, a connection that only works from BNE. When that’s the case we run it and the price is locked like any other. But if both airports serve your route at a similar fare, flying from Brisbane while staying at Coolangatta is close to the most expensive way to arrange a Gold Coast holiday.

Traffic on this route

Northbound weekday mornings carry commuter traffic from about 6am to 9am. Friday is heaviest both ways and long weekends and school-holiday Fridays can push past two hours. Pre-dawn runs are clear, which for a Brisbane international departure usually means leaving Coolangatta in the small hours.

Arriving at Brisbane Airport

On inbound legs an SMS reaches you before landing with the exact meet point and terminal instructions and your flight is monitored so an early or delayed arrival needs no call from you. Brisbane Airport pickups cost the same fixed prices as shown above — put both directions on one reservation and both figures are confirmed upfront before you pay.

The starkest airport comparison of any property we cover. Gold Coast Airport is a fraction of the time and $175 less in a sedan and the pickup-time row is the one that really tells the story — the same 5am flight means a 3am start from here or a 12:30am start for Brisbane. Brisbane is worth it only when your route genuinely requires it. Route detail for each sits on the Gold Coast Airport route hub and the Brisbane Airport route hub.

Fleet, Luggage and Pricing

Pricing is per vehicle, not per person. Slide or tap to compare capacity and both airport prices.

Sedan or similar 1–3passengers
LuggageUp to 2 large suitcases
Best forCouples and the minimum fare either way
Property → Gold Coast Airport$55
Property → Brisbane Airport$230

Every price includes GST and Brisbane runs include the Gateway toll. These are property-to-airport figures; Brisbane pickups cost the same in reverse and Gold Coast Airport pickups are $70 sedan and $100 Kia Carnival including the access fee and meet and greet. Parties larger than 11 travel as multi-vehicle bookings on one reservation. An after-hours fee applies to pickups between 9pm and 5am; the prices shown assume standard operating hours of 5am to 9pm.

Surfboards

Kirra and Snapper Rocks are on your doorstep and boards come out of this address more than most. They travel in the Carnival or Transporter, never a sedan — the Carnival takes up to three in one or two bags alongside passengers and luggage. Flag the board count at booking so the right vehicle turns up, particularly if you’re four people with four boards and a week’s luggage.

Child seats

Queensland’s child restraint rules carry an exemption for booked hire and taxi services, so a seat is not mandatory in our vehicles — but we provide and fit them anyway at $35 per seat, itemised inside your locked quote. Rear-facing seats, forward-facing seats and boosters are all available, fitted and safety-checked before pickup, with up to 5 seats in the Kia Carnival. Bringing your own costs nothing to fit. Full detail on our child seats page.

Apartment luggage

Self-catering apartments produce heavier departures than arrivals. A sedan takes two large cases and no more; a Carnival takes six plus a pram. Size for what’s going home rather than what came in.

The border and travelling south

Coolangatta sits directly on the Queensland–New South Wales line, with Tweed Heads immediately south. Two things follow that are worth knowing.

Child restraints change across the border. Queensland exempts booked hire vehicles from the mandatory restraint requirement; New South Wales does not — hire vehicles there follow private-car rules, so children under 7 must be in an approved seat. On any pickup or drop-off south of the line, a seat is required rather than optional and we fit it as standard.

We work both sides. Transfers run to and from Tweed Heads, Kingscliff, Casuarina, Cabarita, Pottsville, Murwillumbah and the Northern Rivers as a matter of routine, so a stay split between Coolangatta and somewhere south is straightforward to arrange on one booking.

Practical Tips for Your Stay

Take the early flight

The genuine advantage of staying this far south. A dawn departure that would mean a 1:30am start from Surfers is a 3am start from here and the drive is ten minutes rather than fifty. If you’re choosing between flights and the fares are similar, the early one costs you far less at this address than it would anywhere else on the coast.

The pickup point

Transfers collect from the building entrance. Provide your apartment number at booking and your SMS the night before carries the driver’s name, vehicle registration and pickup point.

Give us the flight number

Even on a five-minute run. Pickups are calculated backwards from your flight — 2 hours before a domestic departure, 3 before an international — and the short drive doesn’t change the airport arrival target, only the alarm.

Check-out and a last morning

Being this close means a late flight doesn’t have to be spent in a lobby. Check-out times and luggage storage vary by booking provider, so confirm with them — but with the airport ten minutes away, a final swim at Greenmount before an afternoon departure is entirely realistic.

Summer weekends and surf events

The beachfront streets get busy through summer, school holidays and surf competitions. It adds minutes rather than a great deal, but if there’s a major event on, mention it at booking and the margin gets widened.

Very early departures

Pickups before 5am carry an after-hours fee, shown inside your quote before you pay. Building access at that hour varies by management arrangement — worth one question to your booking provider if you’re on a dawn flight.

Accessibility

For accessible apartment configurations and lift access, contact your booking provider — they hold the accurate current detail. Our vehicles are standard sedans, people movers and a Transporter; raise any particular access requirements for the transfer itself at booking so we can confirm what we can accommodate before you commit.

How to Book

  • Book online — select your airport and terminal, date, flight number and vehicle, with Reflection on the Sea as the pickup address.
  • Add your apartment number and extras — child seats, boards, prams, oversized luggage or a second stop.
  • Add the arrival leg if you need it — BNE at the same fixed price, OOL at the published pickup price, confirmed alongside your departure price before you pay.
  • Pay by card at booking — the price is locked then. No in-car payment.
  • Get your confirmation — plus an SMS the night before with driver name, vehicle registration and pickup point.

Your quote is the fare. No surge, no metered fare, no fuel levy — a higher rate applies on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday only.

Reflection on the Sea Transfer FAQs

What does a transfer from Reflection on the Sea to Gold Coast Airport cost?

Around $55 in a sedan for 1–3 passengers, $85 in a Kia Carnival for up to 7. GST is inside the price and the figure is locked when you book. The drive takes 5–15 minutes.

Is the price fixed and is there a meter?

Fixed. The figure quoted at booking is the figure charged — no meter, no surge, no fuel levy, whether it’s the five-minute hop to OOL or the long run to Brisbane. The only variations are the after-hours fee for pickups between 9pm and 5am and a higher rate on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday, each confirmed inside the quote before you pay.

Is there a discount for booking both legs?

Yes — put the arrival and departure on one reservation and the return leg is discounted 5%, with both figures confirmed upfront before payment.

Why is it $55 when the airport is only minutes away?

$55 is our minimum sedan fare — the floor the pricing sits on regardless of distance, so a three-kilometre run and a twenty-kilometre one both come out the same. What you’re paying for isn’t kilometres, it’s a vehicle and driver committed to your booking alone: allocated in advance, arriving at a time worked back from your flight, with nothing else on the schedule between them and you. That slot costs the same to hold whether the trip is five minutes or fifty.

Is a transfer even worth it from this close?

Honestly, not always. One or two people travelling light in the middle of the day have real alternatives here — the local bus reaches the terminal and a short taxi run won’t go far past a minimum fare either. Where a booked transfer earns its money is the pre-dawn flight, the family with five cases and a pram and the peak weeks when nothing else is dependable.

What does a transfer to Brisbane Airport cost?

Around $230 in a sedan, $300 in a Kia Carnival. The Gateway Motorway toll and GST are both inside the quoted price. It’s about 105 km and 95–120 minutes — the longest run in our hotel guides.

Should I fly from Brisbane or Gold Coast Airport?

Gold Coast Airport unless your route genuinely requires Brisbane. From here the gap is stark: $175 more in a sedan, $215 in a Carnival, plus around an hour and three-quarters more driving each way. The same 5am flight means a 3am pickup for OOL or around 12:30am for Brisbane. If both airports serve your route at a similar fare, flying from Brisbane while staying at Coolangatta is close to the most expensive way to arrange the trip.

How early do I need to be collected for a dawn flight?

Around 3am for a 5am departure — a genuine advantage of staying this far south. The same flight from Surfers means a pickup between 1:30am and 2:30am. The short drive doesn’t change the airport arrival target of 2 hours before a domestic departure; it just means your alarm goes off later.

What if my flight lands late at night?

You’ll be inside your apartment within about twenty minutes of clearing the terminal, which is the other side of the same advantage. Flights are monitored on every airport pickup so a delay needs no call from you and meet and greet is included on Gold Coast Airport arrivals. Pickups after 9pm carry an after-hours fee, confirmed inside your quote.

Where exactly does the driver collect me?

At the building entrance. Include your apartment number when booking and your SMS the night before confirms the driver’s name, vehicle registration and pickup point.

Why are airport pickups priced separately?

Collecting a passenger at an airport carries an airport access fee, which the outbound direction does not attract. Rather than average it across both legs, we quote each direction on its own so you see exactly what you are paying. Book both legs on one reservation and both figures are confirmed upfront.

Does traffic affect the run to Gold Coast Airport?

Barely. There’s no motorway and no highway congestion on this route — it’s the most predictable airport transfer on the coast. The only variable is the Coolangatta beachfront streets during summer weekends, school holidays and surf events, which adds minutes rather than tens of minutes.

Can you carry surfboards?

Yes and with Kirra and Snapper Rocks on the doorstep they come out of this address more than most. Boards travel in the Carnival or Transporter, never a sedan — the Carnival takes up to three in one or two bags alongside passengers and luggage. Flag the count at booking, especially if it’s four people with four boards and a week’s gear.

Do you provide child seats?

Yes. Booked hire and taxi services are exempt from Queensland’s child restraint requirements, so a seat is not mandatory on a Queensland pickup — but we provide and fit them anyway, at $35 per seat itemised in your locked quote. Rear-facing seats, forward-facing seats and boosters are all available, fitted and safety-checked before pickup, with up to 5 seats in the Kia Carnival.

Do the rules change if we’re travelling across the border?

Yes and it matters at this address. New South Wales applies private-car rules to hire vehicles with no booked-hire exemption, so on any pickup or drop-off south of the border — Tweed Heads, Kingscliff, Cabarita and beyond — children under 7 must be in an approved restraint. It’s required rather than optional there and we fit it as standard.

Do you cover Northern NSW as well?

Yes, routinely. Tweed Heads, Kingscliff, Casuarina, Cabarita, Pottsville, Murwillumbah and the Northern Rivers are all regular runs, so a stay split between Coolangatta and somewhere south is straightforward to arrange.

How much luggage can each vehicle take?

Two large suitcases plus carry-on in the sedan, up to six in the Kia Carnival, up to ten in the 12-seater Transporter. Boards, prams, bike boxes and oversized items travel in the Carnival or Transporter.

What size vehicle should I book?

Size for the way home. Self-catering apartments produce heavier departures than arrivals and a family of four that flew in with three cases often leaves with five. A sedan takes two large cases; a Carnival takes six plus a pram.

What time will I be collected for my flight?

We aim to have you at the airport 2 hours before a domestic departure and 3 hours before an international one. The pickup time is that lead plus the drive — which from here is short. Give us the flight number at booking and we work it back from that.

Can I book a very early or late pickup?

Yes, by pre-booking and this is the address where it matters least in terms of the drive and most in terms of getting a car at all. Pickups between 9pm and 5am carry an after-hours fee and the prices shown here assume standard hours of 5am to 9pm. Your total is confirmed upfront.

Do you charge more during school holidays?

No. There’s no surge at any point in the year — the locked quote applies through school holidays, long weekends, surf events and peak periods. The only exception in the calendar is a higher rate on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday.

How is payment handled and can I book both legs together?

By card online when you book, which is the point the price is locked — nothing is paid in the vehicle. Booking both legs on one reservation is simpler: both prices are confirmed upfront, with the airport-to-property leg at its published fixed price — the same figure for Brisbane, $70 sedan for Gold Coast Airport including the access fee.

What are the cancellation terms?

More than 24 hours before pickup, a full credit applies. Within 24 hours, no credit. If your airline cancels the flight: full credit with over 4 hours’ notice, 50% between 1.5 and 4 hours, none inside 1.5 hours. Credits are non-refundable. The complete terms are on our About Us page.

Do you cover other Coolangatta and southern properties?

Yes — every hotel, resort and apartment building at Coolangatta, Kirra, Bilinga, Tugun and across the southern Gold Coast, plus Tweed Heads and Northern NSW. Our hotel transfer guides index the properties with dedicated pages and the rest are bookable the same way.

CGC Airport Transfers — private, pre-booked airport transfers from Reflection on the Sea, Coolangatta QLD 4225, to Gold Coast Airport (OOL, Coolangatta) and Brisbane Airport (BNE, Domestic and International terminals). Property to Gold Coast Airport $55 sedan or $85 Kia Carnival across a few kilometres and 5–15 minutes; property to Brisbane Airport $230, $300 and $690 across about 105 km and 95–120 minutes via the M1, Logan Motorway and Gateway Motorway. If you’re travelling in peak periods, allow up to 2 hours for the run. Per vehicle, not per person. GST included, Gateway Motorway toll inside the Brisbane price, Gold Coast Airport run toll-free. Price locked at booking — no surge, no metered fare, no fuel levy; a higher rate applies on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday only. Published figures are property-to-airport; Brisbane pickups cost the same in reverse and Gold Coast Airport pickups are $70 sedan and $100 Kia Carnival including the access fee.

Minimum fare: $55 is the minimum sedan fare and applies regardless of distance, so the short run to Gold Coast Airport is charged at the same rate as a longer one. The charge reflects a vehicle and driver allocated exclusively to the booking and scheduled around the passenger’s flight rather than the distance covered. For one or two passengers travelling light outside peak periods, local bus services and short metered taxi runs are reasonable alternatives at this address; a pre-booked transfer is most valuable for pre-dawn departures, families with substantial luggage and peak periods.

Proximity to Gold Coast Airport materially changes departure timing at this property: a 5am domestic departure requires a pickup around 3am, compared with 1:30am to 2:30am from Surfers Paradise and a late-evening arrival places passengers in their apartment approximately twenty minutes after clearing the terminal. The airport arrival target is unchanged at 2 hours before domestic departures and 3 hours before international. The Gold Coast Airport route uses local streets with no motorway or highway congestion, making it the most predictable transfer route on the coast; the only variable is beachfront street activity during summer weekends, school holidays and surf events.

Cross-border: Coolangatta adjoins the Queensland–New South Wales border at Tweed Heads. Queensland exempts booked hire and taxi services from the mandatory child restraint requirement, while New South Wales applies private-car rules to hire vehicles with no exemption, requiring children under 7 to travel in an approved restraint on any NSW pickup or drop-off. CGC operates routinely to Tweed Heads, Kingscliff, Casuarina, Cabarita, Pottsville, Murwillumbah and the Northern Rivers. Child seats are provided and fitted at $35 per seat, up to 5 in the Kia Carnival, with no charge to fit a passenger’s own seat.

Service: driver allocated ahead of pickup with a night-before SMS confirming driver name, vehicle registration and pickup point; flight monitoring on every airport pickup with the collection following the actual landing time and wait time not charged (grace around 30–45 minutes domestic, 45 minutes to an hour international); on inbound legs the passenger receives an SMS confirming the transfer with the exact meet point and arrival instructions; meet and greet included on Gold Coast Airport arrivals. Fleet: sedan or similar (1–3 passengers, up to 2 large suitcases, no boards), 7-seat Kia Carnival (up to 7 passengers, up to 6 large suitcases, prams, up to 3 boards in 1–2 bags) and 12-seater Transporter (8–11 passengers, up to 10 large suitcases). Surfboards require the Carnival or Transporter. Groups over 11 run as multi-vehicle bookings on one reservation. Payment by card online at booking, no in-car payment. Cancellation more than 24 hours ahead earns a full credit, none within 24 hours; if the airline cancels the flight, full credit with over 4 hours’ notice, 50% between 1.5 and 4 hours, none inside 1.5 hours. Credits are non-refundable.
