How Private Day Tours Work
Simple format: the vehicle and driver are yours from pickup to drop-off, at one fixed price for the day. You choose the stops — before the day or as you go — and Chris does everything behind the wheel: the winding mountain climb, the M1, the parking hunt at Byron in summer, the timing so you make your lunch booking. Fuel, tolls and GST are in the price; tastings, entries and meals stay in your hands so plans can change on a whim.
It runs on the same full-day hire service that covers our corporate and event work — from $750 for the Kia Carnival seating up to 7, from $1000 for the Transporter when the group is bigger. The two itineraries below are the ones groups ask for most, refined over hundreds of runs. Treat them as starting points.
The Tamborine Mountain Winery Day
Fifty minutes from Surfers Paradise and you’re on a green plateau of cellar doors, rainforest and long views to the coast. The proven shape of the day:
9:00am — pickup from your accommodation. 10:00am — first tasting at Witches Falls Winery at the northern end. 11:30am — Cedar Creek Estate for a tasting and, if you’re keen, the glow worm cave next door. 1:00pm — lunch on Gallery Walk, the strip of galleries, fudge shops and cafés that anchors the mountain. 2:30pm — Mason Wines or Tamborine Mountain Distillery depending on whether the group runs to shiraz or schnapps. 4:00pm — a lookout stop on the way off the mountain, home by 5.
The whole reason this works as a private tour: nobody drives. The mountain roads are genuinely winding, the tastings are generous, and all seven seats get to say yes. Add Songbirds or the Skywalk rainforest bridge if the group leans more nature than nectar — it’s your day.
The Byron Bay Day Tour
An hour and a quarter south of Surfers — closer from the southern Gold Coast — and a different world: lighthouse walks, hinterland villages and the best long lunch culture in the region. The shape that works:
9:00am — pickup and straight down the M1. 10:15am — the Cape Byron Lighthouse walk, with the mainland’s most easterly point and whale watching in season. 11:30am — coffee and a browse through Byron’s town centre. 1:00pm — lunch at The Farm at Ewingsdale, paddock-to-plate with room for kids to roam. 2:30pm — a tasting at Stone & Wood Brewery, home of Pacific Ale. 3:45pm — the drive home through Bangalow’s heritage main street, or a beach stop at Brunswick Heads. Home by 5:30.
Swap-ins that earn their place: Crystal Castle for gardens and valley views, Wategos Beach for the swim, or a Husk Distillery stop at Tumbulgum on the way back across the border. Seven aboard makes it about $107 each, which sits alongside per-person bus tours that run fixed routes on fixed clocks and don’t wait while you finish the tasting. Larger groups take the Transporter from $1000. Every day is quoted as one fixed figure, GST included, locked at booking — no hourly meter running while you linger over lunch.
Cancellation is a full credit more than 24 hours out. Child seats fit at $35 per seat, and door-to-door pickup covers any Gold Coast address.

How far is Tamborine Mountain from the Gold Coast?
About 36 km from Surfers Paradise — roughly 50 minutes up the mountain. Close enough that you’re tasting wine by 10:30am and home before dinner.
How far is Byron Bay from the Gold Coast?
Around 93 km from Surfers Paradise — about 1 hour 15 minutes down the M1. From Coolangatta and the southern suburbs it’s closer to 50 minutes.
Which Tamborine wineries do you recommend?
The proven loop takes in Witches Falls Winery, Cedar Creek Estate and Mason Wines, with Tamborine Mountain Distillery for something stronger and Gallery Walk for browsing between tastings. Cedar Creek’s glow worm cave is an easy add-on.
Can everyone in the group drink at the wineries?

Whenever suits you within our 5am–9pm operating day. Most groups run 9am to 5pm — long enough for four or five stops without rushing.
