How a Tangalooma Day Works
Tangalooma’s launch listing puts the crossing from Holt Street Wharf to the resort at about 75 minutes each way, with four departures a day in each direction. Day cruises commonly leave at 7:30am or 10:00am; check the times on your booking, because they set everything else.
- Pickup: we work back from the check-in time on your Tangalooma booking, allowing about 1 hour 20 minutes from Surfers Paradise off-peak and more in the weekday morning peak.
- At the wharf: your driver drops you at Holt Street Wharf with your bags, ready for check-in.
- Coming home: your driver meets the launch when it’s due back. If it’s running late, text your driver on the number we send by 5pm the day before.
Early launches usually mean a pickup before 6am, and pickups between 9pm and 6am carry an after-hours surcharge, shown in your quote before you book.

Day Cruise or Resort Stay
Both leave from the same wharf. For a day cruise, book the outbound and the return together and 5% comes off the return leg. For a resort stay, book the trip home for your departure day on the same booking. A private transfer suits families and groups of up to 7, leaving from your door at the time you need.
Families and Luggage
- Kia Carnival: up to 7 passengers and up to 5 baby seats, child seats or boosters, $35 each, fitted and checked before pickup.
- Luggage: the Carnival takes up to 9 large suitcases with 1–4 aboard, 7 with five and 6 with six or seven; a pram counts as one check-in bag and means the Carnival rather than the sedan.
- Sedan: 1–3 passengers with 2 large suitcases plus carry-on and one child seat.
