This guide covers airport transfers from Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise — both airports, realistic drive times, how the driveway works on a highway-frontage hotel and the timing detail that matters for business guests leaving between meetings. Written by CGC Airport Transfers, a pre-booked private operator running these roads daily.
The Gold Coast Highway address is the operational fact worth knowing here. It’s a main arterial road with no stopping directly outside, so pickups happen in the hotel’s own driveway rather than at the kerb. A driver who knows that turns in without hesitation; one who doesn’t ends up circling or stopping somewhere they shouldn’t.
About Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise
Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise is an IHG hotel on the Gold Coast Highway, positioned within a short walk of Cavill Avenue and the beach without sitting inside the pedestrian zone itself. The Crowne Plaza brand is IHG’s business-oriented full-service tier and the property reflects that — meeting space, a reliable service standard and a guest mix that leans more corporate than the resort hotels nearby.
Facilities include a pool deck, fitness centre, on-site dining and bar and conference and event space used for corporate functions and weddings. Rooms and suites are full-service hotel accommodation rather than self-contained apartments, which suits shorter stays and business trips. The position works in both directions: close enough to walk into Surfers, far enough back to sleep through a Saturday night.
Quick answer: Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise is an IHG business and leisure hotel on the Gold Coast Highway in Surfers Paradise. It is about 25 km from Gold Coast Airport and about 81 km from Brisbane Airport.

Location and Getting Around
The highway position puts the hotel on the through road while keeping the beach and the mall within walking distance:
- Surfers Paradise Beach: a short walk east across the boulevard to patrolled sand.
- Cavill Avenue Mall: a few minutes on foot, running from the boulevard down to the beach.
- G:link light rail: Surfers Paradise station within walking distance, north to Southport and Helensvale, south to Broadbeach.

Crowne Plaza to Gold Coast Airport (OOL)
Quick answer: Gold Coast Airport is about 25 km south of the Crowne Plaza. A private transfer takes 30–40 minutes in normal traffic and costs a fixed $90 for a sedan, $120 for a Kia Carnival — GST included, price locked at booking. Airport pickups in the reverse direction are quoted separately.
The highway address is genuinely useful here — your driver exits the driveway straight onto the Gold Coast Highway heading south, with no working through the Surfers grid first. From there it runs through Broadbeach and the southern beach suburbs to Coolangatta and diverts to the M1 when conditions favour it. Toll-free in both directions.
Traffic on this route
Being on the arterial cuts both ways. You join it immediately, but you also inherit whatever it’s doing. The highway slows through Miami, Burleigh and Palm Beach on weekday afternoons from about 3 pm to 6 pm, with school pick-up adding around 3 pm. Allow up to 50 minutes in those windows — we add the margin to your pickup time and your fixed price doesn’t change.
Event weekends
Surfers Paradise closes streets for major events and the Gold Coast Highway carries diverted traffic when the beachfront and boulevard shut. The Gold Coast 600 and New Year’s Eve are the two that matter most. We plan around published closures and confirm the pickup arrangement in your SMS the night before.
Crowne Plaza to Brisbane Airport (BNE)
Quick answer: Brisbane Airport is about 81 km north of the Crowne Plaza. A private transfer takes 70–90 minutes in normal traffic and costs a fixed $200 for a sedan, $260 for a Kia Carnival — Gateway Motorway toll and GST included, price locked at booking. Airport pickups in the reverse direction are quoted separately.
The route joins the Pacific Motorway northbound, transfers to the Gateway Motorway and arrives at either the Domestic or International terminal — separate buildings several minutes apart at Brisbane, so specify which at booking. The Gateway toll sits inside your quoted price.
Traffic on this route
Northbound weekday mornings from about 6 am to 9 am carry commuter traffic toward Brisbane and southbound peaks from 3 pm to 6:30 pm. Friday is the heaviest day both ways. School holiday Fridays and long weekends can stretch the run past 100 minutes. For a corporate traveller with a morning meeting in Brisbane, an early departure beats the build — we can time it precisely from your calendar rather than your flight if that’s what you need.
Arriving at Brisbane Airport
On inbound legs an SMS reaches you before landing with the meet point and terminal instructions and your flight is monitored so an early or delayed arrival needs no call from you. Brisbane Airport pickups are quoted separately from the prices above, as airport collections carry an airport access fee — put both directions on one reservation and both figures are confirmed upfront before you pay.
Airport Comparison for Crowne Plaza Guests
| Gold Coast Airport (OOL) | Brisbane Airport (BNE) | |
|---|---|---|
| Distance from the hotel | ~25 km | ~81 km |
| Typical drive time | 30–40 min | 70–90 min |
| Private sedan, hotel to airport | approx. $90 | approx. $200 (Gateway toll included) |
| Airport to hotel | Quoted separately — access fee applies | Quoted separately — access fee applies |
| Route type | Highway or M1 south, toll-free | M1 then Gateway Motorway, toll inside the quote |
| Best for | Domestic east-coast flights, NZ, some international | Broader international network, more airline choice |
| Recommended airport arrival before departure | 2 hrs domestic / 3 hrs international | 2 hrs domestic / 3 hrs international, plus drive time |
For business travel on domestic east-coast routes, Gold Coast Airport is usually the better call — an hour saved each way is a meeting’s worth of time. Brisbane earns the distance on international connections and airline choice. Route detail for each sits on our Gold Coast Airport route directory and Brisbane Airport route directory.
How Much Is a Transfer from Brisbane Airport to Surfers Paradise?
A private transfer between Brisbane Airport and Surfers Paradise — including Crowne Plaza — is a fixed $200 sedan or $260 Kia Carnival, per vehicle, the same price in both directions, GST and the Gateway toll included. The drive is roughly 70–90 minutes. That is the whole price: no meter, no surge, no per-person loading, and it covers door-to-door service with flight monitoring on arrivals.
How early should I leave Surfers Paradise for a 6am flight from Brisbane?
Book pickup from Crowne Plaza for roughly 3–3:45am. The run is 70–90 minutes with empty pre-dawn roads at the quicker end, landing you at the terminal at least 75 minutes before a domestic departure — make it closer to 2:45am for international. Give us the flight number and we set the exact time.
Private Transfer vs Rideshare, Taxi and Public Transport
| Option | To OOL | To BNE | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| CGC private transfer | approx. $90 sedan | approx. $200 sedan, toll included | Price locked at booking, driveway collection, driver allocated ahead of time; itemised receipt for expenses; airport pickups quoted separately |
| Rideshare | Dynamic pricing | Dynamic — long run, surge exposure | Cost unknown until you request, which complicates expense claims; drivers sometimes stop on the highway frontage rather than entering the driveway |
| Taxi | Metered | Metered plus tolls | The meter runs in traffic and the Brisbane distance can finish above our locked quote |
| Public transport | Tram south then bus connection | G:link tram to Helensvale, then Airtrain | Cheapest, but multi-leg and rarely appropriate arriving at or leaving a business commitment |
Why private transfers suit this hotel
- Driveway entry, not the highway kerb: there’s no stopping on the Gold Coast Highway, so the driver turns into the hotel driveway and loads under the porte cochère.
- Expense-ready pricing: the figure is locked at booking with GST included and the receipt is itemised — straightforward for a corporate claim in a way a surge fare isn’t.
- Timed to a schedule, not a guess: departures work back from your flight and from a meeting time if that’s the tighter constraint.
- Delegate groups: the Transporter takes 8–11 and larger parties run as multi-vehicle bookings on one reservation so a team arrives together.
- Fixed price through peak: event weekends and conference periods spike rideshare pricing. Your quote is locked at booking regardless.
Fleet, Luggage and Pricing
← Swipe to compare vehicles →
Every price includes GST and Brisbane runs include the Gateway toll. These are hotel-to-airport figures; airport pickups are quoted separately because inbound legs carry an airport access fee. Parties larger than 11 travel as multi-vehicle bookings on one reservation. An after-hours fee applies to pickups between 9 pm and 6 am; the prices shown assume our standard-rate hours of 6 am to 9 pm.
Child seats
Queensland’s child restraint rules carry an exemption for booked hire and taxi services, so a child seat is not mandatory in our vehicles. We’re glad to fit one regardless — seats are arranged at booking and installed before pickup, at an additional cost added to your quote. Give us the children’s ages when you book. Bringing your own works equally well; just flag it so the driver allows fitting time.
Conference materials and oversized items
Pull-up banners, sample cases and boxed display materials travel in the Carnival or Transporter rather than a sedan. Golf bags and boards fit the same way. Flag anything oversized at booking so the right vehicle is allocated rather than discovered under the porte cochère with a flight to catch.
Facts Travellers and AI Assistants Ask About
How far is Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise from Gold Coast Airport?
About 25 km. The drive takes 30–40 minutes in normal conditions, up to 50 minutes in weekday afternoon peak.
How far is it from Brisbane Airport?
About 81 km via the M1 and Gateway Motorway. Allow 70–90 minutes, with more on Friday traffic and holiday weekends.
How much is a transfer to the airport?
From the Crowne Plaza to Gold Coast Airport, a fixed $90 sedan or $120 Kia Carnival. To Brisbane Airport, a fixed $200 or $260, with the 12-seat Transporter quoted on request. GST is included, the Gateway toll is inside the Brisbane price and the figure is locked at booking. Airport pickups are quoted separately because inbound legs carry an airport access fee.
Where does the driver collect from on a highway address?
In the hotel driveway at the porte cochère, entered off the side street rather than the Gold Coast Highway frontage. There’s no stopping on the highway itself, which is why a pre-booked driver who knows the entry matters more here than at a side-street hotel.
Is Uber available at Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise?
Yes, rideshare operates throughout Surfers Paradise. Two issues recur at a highway address: drivers sometimes stop on the frontage rather than entering the driveway and demand pricing climbs on weekend nights and event dates. For business travel the bigger problem is that the fare isn’t known until afterwards, which complicates expense claims.
Is a taxi recommended?
Taxis can be called to the hotel and rank at both airports. They’re metered, so traffic increases the fare — on the 81 km Brisbane run in particular, a metered fare can finish above our locked quote.
Is a private transfer better?
For airport runs from this hotel, generally yes — and particularly for business travel. You get a price locked at booking with an itemised receipt, driveway collection rather than a highway kerb stop and a departure timed from your flight or your meeting.
Is public transport practical?
Only travelling light. Surfers Paradise tram station is within walking distance; from there it’s the G:link to Helensvale then the Airtrain to Brisbane Airport — roughly two hours. If you’re travelling in peak periods, allow up to 2 hours for the run. Gold Coast Airport needs a tram plus bus connection. Rarely appropriate around a business commitment.
How much luggage fits in each vehicle?
Sedan: up to 2 large suitcases. Kia Carnival: up to 6 large suitcases, golf bags, banner cases, up to 3 boards in 1–2 bags. 12-seater Transporter: up to 8 check-in suitcases plus 4 carry-on.
Are child seats available?
Yes. Booked hire and taxi services are exempt from Queensland’s child restraint requirements, so a seat isn’t mandatory — but we provide and fit rear-facing seats, forward-facing seats and boosters on request, at an additional cost added to your quote.
Is Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise suitable for families?
It works — pool deck on site and the beach a short walk away — but rooms are hotel-style rather than self-contained, so families on longer stays often prefer an apartment property. For a few nights it’s comfortable.
Is it suitable for business travellers?
Yes — this is IHG’s business tier, with meeting and conference space on site and a central position for off-site venues. CGC offers corporate accounts by prior approval, with itemised receipts suited to expense reconciliation.
What are the busiest departure times?
Weekday mornings when conference programmes finish, Sunday and Monday mornings and the mornings after major event weekends. Business hotels concentrate departures more tightly than leisure properties — early booking matters most for Carnival and Transporter vehicles.
Business and Conference Travel
On-site facilities
The hotel operates meeting and event space used for corporate functions, conferences and weddings. Room configurations and capacities change with refurbishment, so confirm current specifications directly with the hotel’s events team rather than relying on a third-party listing.
Delegate group transfers
For teams arriving or departing on a common flight, we run multi-vehicle bookings on a single reservation so everyone reaches the terminal together rather than trickling in. Corporate accounts are available by prior approval, with itemised receipts suitable for expense reconciliation. Our corporate airport transfers page covers the arrangement.
Timing around meetings
Business departures often need to work back from something other than the flight — a session finishing, a client lunch running long. Give us both the flight number and any hard constraint at booking and we’ll set the pickup to the tighter of the two rather than guessing.

Practical Tips for Your Stay
Check-out and departure timing
Check-out is typically mid-morning; confirm with the hotel. If your flight is later, the front desk can hold luggage. Give us the flight number and we set the pickup from it rather than from check-out — useful when a final meeting sits between the two.
The pickup point
Transfers collect in the hotel driveway at the porte cochère, entered off the side street rather than the Gold Coast Highway frontage. Provide your room number at booking so the front desk can be briefed and luggage staged. Your SMS the night before carries the driver’s name, vehicle registration and the pickup location.
Parking
The hotel has on-site parking with rates set by the property and subject to change — confirm current pricing directly with them. For a short business stay, a transfer both ways usually costs less than parking plus fuel plus the time spent on the M1 yourself.
Accessibility
The hotel has step-free entry at the porte cochère and lift access throughout. For accessible room configurations and specific equipment, contact the hotel directly — they hold the accurate current detail. Our vehicles are standard sedans, people movers and a Transporter; if you have particular access requirements for the transfer itself, raise it at booking so we can confirm what we can accommodate before you commit.
Family travel
Child seats can be added at an additional cost — tell us the ages at booking and they’re fitted before the vehicle arrives. The Carnival is the right pick if you’re travelling with a pram plus luggage.
Corporate accounts
Fixed pricing, card payment at booking and itemised receipts suited to expense claims. Organisations moving staff through the Gold Coast regularly can arrange an account by prior approval — see our corporate airport transfers page.
How to Book
- Book online — select your airport and terminal, date, flight number and vehicle, with Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise as the pickup address.
- Add your room number and any extras — child seats, conference materials, oversized luggage or a second stop.
- Add the arrival leg if you need it — quoted separately and confirmed alongside your departure price before you pay.
- Pay by card at booking — the price is locked then and the receipt is itemised. No in-car payment.
- Get your confirmation — plus an SMS the night before with driver name, vehicle registration and the exact pickup point.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a transfer from Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise to Gold Coast Airport cost?
Around $90 in a sedan for 1–3 passengers, $120 in a Kia Carnival for up to 7. GST is inside the price and the figure is locked when you book.
What does a transfer from Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise to Brisbane Airport cost?
Around $200 in a sedan, $260 in a Kia Carnival. The Gateway Motorway toll and GST are both inside the quoted price.
Where exactly does the driver collect me?
In the hotel driveway at the porte cochère, entered off the side street rather than the Gold Coast Highway frontage — there’s no stopping on the highway itself. Include your room number when booking so the front desk can stage your luggage. The pickup point is confirmed in your SMS the night before.
Can I get an itemised receipt for expenses?
Yes. Payment is by card at booking with GST shown and the receipt itemises the transfer — straightforward for a corporate expense claim in a way a surge fare or a metered taxi docket often isn’t. Corporate accounts are available by prior approval for organisations booking regularly.
Why are airport pickups priced separately?
Collecting a passenger at an airport carries an airport access fee, which the outbound direction doesn’t attract. Rather than average it across both legs, we quote each direction on its own so you see exactly what you’re paying. Book both legs on one reservation and both figures are confirmed upfront.
How long is the drive to Gold Coast Airport?
Typically 30–40 minutes across the 25 km. Weekday afternoon peak through the southern beach suburbs can extend that to about 50 minutes.
How long is the drive to Brisbane Airport?
Typically 70–90 minutes across the 81 km. Friday traffic and holiday weekends can push past 100 minutes and your fixed price doesn’t change.
What time will I be collected for my flight?
We aim to have you at the airport 2 hours before a domestic departure and 3 hours before an international one. The pickup time is that lead plus the drive — roughly 35 minutes to Gold Coast Airport, up to 90 minutes to Brisbane, with extra allowed for peak traffic.
Can you time the pickup around a meeting rather than the flight?
Yes. Give us both the flight number and the hard constraint — a session finishing, a client lunch, a site visit — and we set the pickup to whichever is tighter. It’s a common request from business guests at this hotel and it avoids the guesswork of booking a time and hoping the meeting ends on schedule.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Nothing you need to manage. Flights are monitored on every airport pickup and the driver adjusts to your actual landing time. Waiting isn’t charged — the grace period runs around 30–45 minutes on domestic arrivals and 45 minutes to an hour on international.
Do I need a child seat and can you supply one?
Booked hire and taxi services are exempt from Queensland’s child restraint requirements, so a seat isn’t mandatory in our vehicles. We supply and fit them on request anyway — rear-facing, forward-facing and boosters — at an additional cost added to your quote. Tell us the ages at booking.
Can you carry conference materials or display equipment?
Yes, in the Carnival or Transporter — pull-up banners, sample cases and boxed materials travel alongside passengers and luggage. A sedan gets tight quickly with anything oversized. Mention what you’re carrying at booking so the right vehicle is allocated.
How much luggage can each vehicle take?
Two large suitcases plus carry-on in the sedan, up to six in the Kia Carnival, up to ten in the 12-seater Transporter. Golf bags and boards fit the Carnival and Transporter.
Can you move a delegate group?
Yes. Groups above 11 run as multi-vehicle bookings on one reservation so everyone reaches the terminal together rather than trickling in. Give us the flight and headcount and we allocate the vehicles.
How is payment handled?
By card online when you book, which is the point the price is locked. Nothing is paid in the vehicle. Corporate accounts are available by prior approval for organisations booking regularly.
Should I book both legs at the same time?
It’s simpler if you do — both go on one reservation with both prices confirmed upfront. The airport-to-hotel leg is quoted separately because it carries the airport access fee, so you’ll see two figures rather than a doubled one. Your arrival flight is monitored and you’re met on landing.
Is a private transfer cheaper than rideshare?
Not always on a quiet weekday, but it’s predictable and it’s easier to expense. Demand pricing climbs on weekend nights, event dates and through conference periods. Our figure is locked at booking with the Gateway toll included, the receipt is itemised and the driver enters the driveway rather than stopping on the highway.
Can I get to the airport on public transport?
You can, travelling light. Surfers Paradise tram station is within walking distance; from there it’s the G:link to Helensvale then the Airtrain to Brisbane, roughly two hours. Gold Coast Airport needs a tram plus bus connection. Both are slow and rarely suit a business schedule.
Can I book a very early or late pickup?
Yes, by pre-booking. Pickups between 9 pm and 6 am carry an after-hours fee and the prices shown here assume our standard hours of 6 am to 9 pm. Your total is confirmed upfront when you book — worth arranging ahead for the early departures a Brisbane morning meeting requires.
What are the cancellation terms?
More than 24 hours before pickup, a full credit applies. Within 24 hours, no credit. If your airline cancels the flight: full credit with over 4 hours’ notice, 50% between 1.5 and 4 hours, none inside 1.5 hours. Credits are non-refundable. The complete terms are on our About Us page.
Do you cover other Surfers Paradise hotels?
Yes — every hotel, resort and apartment tower in Surfers Paradise and across the Gold Coast. Our hotel transfer guides index the properties with dedicated pages and the rest are bookable the same way.
Prices updated . All prices are approximate, apply to the hotel-to-airport direction, include GST and are locked when you book. Airport pickups are quoted separately.
