What pickup time do I need for a 10am international flight?
Approximately 5:05am from the Byron beachfront. The 165km run takes around 1h 55min off-peak plus the 3-hour international buffer, landing you at BNE International around 7:00am for check-in. A pre-5am pickup falls outside standard hours and may attract an after-hours surcharge.
How does daylight saving affect my pickup time?
From early October to early April, NSW runs an hour ahead of Queensland. All CGC pickup times are confirmed in your local NSW pickup time on the booking and the flight-time calculation accounts for the QLD arrival time at BNE. The exact pickup time is confirmed in your night-before SMS.
Can CGC pick up from Wategos, Main Beach, Tallow, Belongil and The Pass?
Yes. Provide a landmark description for Marine Parade Wategos and Brooke Drive at The Pass — both have limited turnaround space at early-morning pickup. The night-before SMS confirms the exact pickup point.
Can I be picked up from Elements of Byron or Rae’s on Wategos?
Yes. Resort pickups are routine. Include the resort name, room number (if applicable) and preferred pickup point when booking.
Do you provide transfers during major Byron Bay events?
Yes. CGC operates during major Northern Rivers festival and event weekends, with pricing remaining locked at booking — no event surge. Book early during peak event periods as demand is high.
Are child seats required from Byron Bay?
Yes. NSW applies the same child restraint rules to hire vehicles as private cars, so children under 7 must travel in an approved, age-appropriate child seat on the NSW leg. That’s different from Queensland, where booked hire is exempt from the mandatory requirement — but since every Byron pickup starts in NSW, the requirement applies to this route. CGC fits the correct seat before pickup when you provide each child’s age and approximate size at booking. An additional child seat cost applies and is added to your quote at booking. Does CGC surge for event weekends or school holidays?
No. The same locked rate applies. A higher rate applies only on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday.
Should I fly from BNE or OOL?
OOL is closer (around 95km / 1h 10min versus 165km / 1h 55min) and is the simpler choice for most domestic east-coast and short-haul Asia-Pacific travel — and the shorter distance means a lower fare. Can you carry surfboards from Byron to BNE?
Yes. The Kia Carnival fits up to 3 boards in 1–2 board bags alongside passenger luggage — boards up to around 7’2″ fit diagonally and longer boards need the Transporter. Flag the board count, lengths and bag type at booking so the right vehicle and rear configuration are prepared.
Do you pick up from Byron Bay beachfront holiday homes and private villas?
Yes. CGC picks up from beachfront holiday homes, private villas, resorts and apartments across Wategos, Main Beach, Clarkes Beach, Belongil, Tallow Beach and The Pass. Add the exact address, driveway note, gate code or landmark description at booking so the driver reaches the right entry before the Brisbane Airport transfer.
Do you charge for waiting time at Brisbane Airport?
No. There is no extra charge for airport waiting time. On arrivals we monitor your flight and generally allow 30 to 45 minutes after a domestic landing and 45 minutes to 1 hour after an international landing, for you to clear the terminal and collect your bags. You will receive a text confirming your transfer and where to meet the driver.
Is the return trip from Brisbane Airport the same price?
Not quite — the inbound leg is quoted separately and generally sits a little above the outbound, because runs starting at Brisbane Airport carry the airport access fee that outbound trips don’t. Both legs go on one reservation and both figures are shown before you confirm, so there’s no guesswork. We monitor your inbound flight and because where you’re met depends on which arrivals area your flight comes into, you’ll receive a text confirming your transfer with the exact meet point and arrival instructions — then we drop you at your beachfront house, hotel or holiday rental.
How much luggage can each vehicle take?
The Sedan or similar handles up to 2 large suitcases plus carry-on, the Kia Carnival up to 6 — and it also takes up to 3 surfboards in 1–2 bags — while the 12-seater Transporter holds up to 10. Flag your bags and any boards at booking so the right vehicle is sent.
How do I pay?
You pay online by card when the booking is made, so nothing is handled in the car. Corporate accounts are available by prior approval.
What is the cancellation and flight-change policy?
Cancel more than 24 hours before pickup for a full credit toward a future booking; within 24 hours, no credit applies. If a flight is cancelled, you get a full credit beyond 4 hours, a 50% credit from 1.5 to 4 hours and none inside 1.5 hours. Credits are non-refundable and carry to your next trip. Can you take a group of more than 11?
Yes. For parties above 11 — wedding groups departing through BNE after a Byron beachfront wedding, premium private-rental groups or surf-trip cohorts — we run a multi-vehicle booking with several vehicles allocated together under one reservation. Send the total passenger and luggage numbers and we organise the fleet.
