Your drive time plus 2 hours for a domestic flight, or plus 3 hours for an international one. Drive time ranges from about 45 minutes at Coomera to well over two hours from Byron Bay, so the suburb matters more than any rule of thumb.

Both run 95–120 minutes off-peak, so a 7am international flight works back to a pickup around 2:00am. It’s the longest run on the coast — the flip side of being minutes from Gold Coast Airport.

Kingscliff is 105–130 minutes off-peak and Byron Bay 120–145. If you’re travelling in peak periods, allow up to 2.5 hours for the run. For an early international departure that means leaving in the small hours, and it’s worth weighing whether Gold Coast Airport serves your route before committing to Brisbane.

Domestic and International are separate buildings several minutes apart, not two ends of one concourse. Specify which at booking — being dropped at the wrong one means an unplanned shuttle with luggage against the clock.
